In all likelihood, Angle/Brock will be overshadowed if it is at Mania. The four matches that would probably be heavily hyped would be: Hogan/Vince McMahon, Shane McMahon/Bischoff, Austin/Trip, and Catchphrase spewing person from the University of Miami/Moron yelling 'Your Next'. If those matches end up being booked for Mania, would it be a wiser move for the WWF/E to hold off Lesnar/Angle until KOTR, thus allowing the other feuds to be played out, and for the one big match that has not occurred yet to be saved for when it will bring a big buyrate on its own, rather than it being wasted on a card that would have other matches used to obtain the buyrate.

Of course, Rock/Goldberg isn't a lock and the push for Angle/Brock started in December, earlier if you count Show and Heymen's involvement.

Shane/Bischoff isn't really all that viable either, considering they've already got one non-wrestler hovering at the top of the card (Vince), and I doubt they'd go that far with it, especially considering that this IS WrestleMania.

No, I think it'll end up in the main, no problem and I doubt there will be a lack of heat. The only thing I can think that MIGHT overtake it is the possible Austin/HHH match, but THAT isn't really a given either.

I honestly can't see anything giving it a serious problem; Hogan/Vince isn't exactly a dream match, and Austin/HHH has been done before.

Forget about Goldberg. He is yesterday's news. Rock - who cares.

Angle vs Lesnar and Austin Vs HHH are two great headline matches.

Hogan Vs Vince - whatever

If WWE learned ANYTHING from the Royal Rumble, it's that matches like Lesnar/Angle are what people want to see, not matches with the crippled Triple H, old Hogan, non-wrestler McMahon or even the returning Nash.

How many casual fans that watch WWE now even remember Goldberg?

I don't know. One of the top questions I still get asked by non-wrestling fans is "What happened to Goldberg?". And I still think that the mark dream match is "Austin v. Goldberg".

The whole Lesnar/Heyman feud (because that is what it is, a feud between Heyman & Lesnar) really dates back to before the brand extension, when Heyman brought Lesnar in. And eventually, the tensions built and Heyman dropped Lesnar for the Show, and then Angle. Heyman = Heenan? Remember the Heenan Family? Hmm?? ANYHOO, I think it'd be a good idea to finish it up at WrestleMania...because I like good wrestling and Angle/Lesnar will be good wrestling. Then again, if they extend it they could make Brock an even stronger face and Angle an even stronger heel. But hey, I'm no Vince McMahon...it's not like I know anything.

Since when is Austin/HHH a done deal? Or Rock/Goldberg? Or Shane/Bishoff? I think you're making a few too many assumptions here. I also think that Angle has as much appeal to casual fans as anyone else. When I talk to my students about WWE, they discuss him more than anyone else, with Brock holding his own as another favorite. The match will not be overshadowed. Vince/Hogan will have a huge appeal as will the Raw title match (if it involves Austin or Rock). So will Brock/Angle. Anything else is just speculation at this point.

They seem to be trying to create a supercard, so they're trying to throw as many "money" matches onto Wrestlemania as they can. That and Vince/Hogan and Jericho/Shawn are the only other matches that could be considered penciled in at this point, and neither can be expected to draw too much.

Why is Goldberg a moron, again? He got over in the land of no one getting over, made millions, even earned about 1.5 mill a year for sitting on his couch and spends his free time buying expensive cars, helping abused animals, and visited make-a-wish kids. He sounds pretty intelligent to me.

Other than not being Chris Benoit I don't see what he did to you people to deserve such vitriol.

And I haven't exactly heard roof-splitting pops for Angle/Lesnar confrontations so far. Unless they both become mega-stars in the next month this is not going to get top billing. It can still be the main event, it just won't have the biggest stars.

Something happened to me about six months ago that showed me just how much casual fans remember Goldberg. My roomates babysitter came to our house to drop off my roomies two year old. She brought her son with her who was about eight or nine years old. My son was already there and had toys scattered all over the living room. He has the 12" Stone Cold and Rock figures. The kid picks up the Stone Cold doll and says "Whos Goldberg doll is this?" I mean this kid was only eight. and Goldberg hadnt been on WCW TV in two years. But yet he still remembered him. And I said thats Stone COld he said "Goldberg is gonna beat Stone Cold when they Wrestle"

We're *trying* to forget Steiner, but they just keep cramming him down our throats. :-)

Batista vs. Steiner actually sounds like a plausible matchup for WM. Hopefully waaaaaay down on the card, but plausible nonetheless.

*edit* topic, topic... ummm... Yeah, I'd like to see Goldberg/Austin as well. As long as both are in good wrestling shape (as can be, anyway).

That would mean Steiner going another 2 months without getting injured/fired. Very doubtful that will happen.
