From ESPN.com (sports.espn.go.com):

Heading into the final night of the 2003-04 NBA regular season, half the playoff seeds are secure and half can still change based on the outcome of the final games.

Here's what we know:
East: The Pacers (No. 1 seed), Nets (No. 2), Pistons (No. 3) and Celtics (No. 8) are locked into their spots. The Bucks, Heat, Hornets and Knicks still could see some movement.

West: The top four positions remain in flux, but the Mavericks (No. 5), Grizzlies (No. 6), Rockets (No. 7) and Nuggets (No. 8) are locked in.

Here's a look at what's at stake going into tonight's games:

Eastern Conference

New Orleans at Washington, 7 ET
The Hornets currently stand in sixth place in the East but could wind up No. 5, 6 or 7.

If the Hornets, Heat and Bucks all win, Milwaukee is No. 4, Miami No. 5 and New Orleans No. 6.

If the Hornets and Heat win but the Bucks lose, Miami moves to No. 4, New Orleans to No. 5 and Milwaukee drops to No. 6.

If the Hornets win and the Heat and Bucks both lose, the three-way tie-breaker makes Miami No. 4, New Orleans No. 5 and Milwaukee No. 6.

If the Hornets lose and the Knicks win makes New York No. 6 and New Orleans No. 7.

Cleveland at New York, 7:30 ET
The Cavs have been eliminated from the playoffs, and the Knicks currently sit No. 7 in the East.

A win combined with a New Orleans loss will move the Knicks to No. 6 and drop the Hornets to No. 7.

A loss secures the No. 7 spot.

Toronto at Milwaukee, 8 ET
The Bucks and Heat are tied for fourth place, but Milwaukee controls its destiny.

A Bucks win secures the No. 4 seed in the West and makes Miami No. 5.

A Bucks loss combined with a Heat win and a Hornets loss give Miami the No. 4, Milwaukee No. 5.

If the Bucks lose and the Heat and Hornets both win, Miami is No. 4, New Orleans No. 5 and Milwaukee drops all the way to No. 6.

New Jersey at Miami, 7:30 ET
The Nets are locked in at No. 2, but Miami has a chance to secure home-court in the first round.

A win combined with a Bucks loss makes Miami No. 4.

Western Conference

Minnesota at Memphis, 8 ET
The Grizzlies are locked in at No. 6 and have little to play for, but Minnesota is playing for the top spot and home-court advantage throughout the Western Conference playoffs.

A win gives Minnesota the No. 1 seed in the West.

A loss opens the door for San Antonio to be No. 1 in the West.

Denver at San Antonio, 8:30 ET
Denver is locked in at No. 8 and has little to play for. San Antonio can finish either No. 1, No. 3 or No. 4 in the West, depending how things play out elsewhere.

A Spurs victory and a Wolves loss will make San Antonio No. 1 and drop Minnesota to No. 3.

However, a Minnesota victory eliminates San Antonio from contention for the No. 1 seed, even if the Spurs beat Denver.

A Spurs loss will give Minnesota the No. 1 seed.

A Spurs loss and victories by the Kings and Lakers would drop San Antonio all the way to No. 4.

Los Angeles Lakers at Portland, 10 ET

A loss drops the Lakers to No. 4.

A win, combined with a Sacramento loss, bumps L.A. to No. 2 and drops the Kings to No. 4.

Sacramento at Golden State, 10:30 ET
Sacramento can finish either No. 2 or No. 4 based on the outcome of this game.

The Kings can win the Pacific Division and lock up the No. 2 seed with a win.

A Kings loss, combined with a Lakers win at Portland, would give L.A. the No. 2 seed and drop the Kings to No. 4.

-----------

Should be an interesting night-interesting enough that I wish I had sprung for the half-season NBA package DirecTV was offering.

I'll make a bold prediction, and say the night ends like this:

West:
1. Minnesota (I've probably jinxed them now, dammit)
2. Sacremento
3. San Antonio
4. Los Angeles
5. Dallas
6. Memphis
7. Houston
8. Denver

East:
1. Indiana
2. New Jersey
3. Detroit
4. Milwaukee
5. Miami
6. New York
7. New Orleans
8. Boston

The Nuggets wouldn't have a chance in hell against the Spurs, so GO T'WOLVES.
