I'm picking the Colts, Ravens, Packers and Saints. The sight of the Seattle players wearing the '2010 NFC WEST CHAMPIONS' hats was pretty hilarious.

The really sad thing is, considering this is the best thing to happen to Seattle sports in ages, that home crowd is going to be red hot and they're already pretty hot to begin with. I don't think that Saints/Seahawks game is as much of a foregone conclusion as people are going to assume it is.

I agree. I think Seattle could pull off the upset, due as much to the fact that the Saints have been pretty inconsistent this year as it is any positive that could be produced in Seattle's favor. I really hope the Seahawks pull off the upset, because I'm curious to see if that win becomes an argument against division winners getting home games automatically, or for it. You could argue that the Seahawks would be proving their worth by beating New Orleans, or you could argue the Saints were put at an unfair disadvantage, though I assume most people would argue the former.

Might as well throw out my meaningless predictions. I picked the Packers over the Jets in the Super Bowl before the season started, but I'm going to have to say now that Packers/Patriots is a more likely game now. The Eagles have looked unstoppable at times this season, and quite pedestrian at others, I'm not sure what to make of them.

I like Matt Ryan. I think he's going to be a really good quarterback for a really long time. He makes good decisions and seems like more of a leader every time I see him. Going into Atlanta and winning in the playoffs is going to be tough for any team, and I wouldn't be shocked to see them in the Super Bowl. But I think the Packers defense will be up to the challenge, assuming Green Bay gets by the Eagles, which is obviously hardly a given. If the Packers don't come out of the NFC, I think the Falcons will.

The Bears are really good too, and I would like to see Brian Urlacher be a part of a Super Bowl winner. But I just don't think Jay Cutler is the quarterback to get them there. I want to like Cutler, I've had a soft spot for him ever since he was at Vanderbilt and came *this* close to beating the Gators in the Swamp in a game I was at, but he's just not a top-shelf player, and even as good as Matt Forte is, I don't think the Bears have the weapons on offense to win in the postseason.

In the AFC, I don't see anyone challenging the Patriots. The Steelers are the only team I really see having an outside shot, because Roethlisberger is awesome, but Tom Brady is awesomer. By a lot. This year anyway.

So I'll say it goes like this:

Packers over Eagles, Saints over Seahawks, Ravens over Chiefs, Colts over Jets

Packers over Falcons, Bears over Saints, Steelers over Colts, Patriots over Ravens

Packers over Bears, Patriots over Steelers, setting up a rematch of Super Bowl XXXI.

If the Seahawks can make the playoffs at 7-9, why can't the Lions be in at 13-3 Against the Spread?
Saints/Seahawks: Saints 31-10.
J-E-T-S/Colts: Colts 24-23 on a last second field goal, and instead of going to shake hands after the game, Rex Ryan tries to crawl over to see Adam Vinatieri's foot.
Ravens/Chiefs: Ravens 23-6.
Packers/Eagles: Packers seems to be the new 'it' team in the NFC. Eagles 20-17.

Eagles/Bears: Eagles 23-10.
Colts/Steelers: Colts 16-13.
Saints/Falcons: Falcons 20-10.
Patriots/Ravens: Patriots 24-16.

Eagles/Falcons: Vick needs to go through Atlanta to get to the Super Bowl. Doesn't happen. Falcons 26-10.
Patriots/Colts: CBS gets their wet dream in prime time. New overtime rules come into play here as Colts drive for field goal on first possession of OT. Patriots counter with touchdown. Patriots 34-31 OT.

Patriots/Falcons: Patriots 27-21.

That'd be mine as well.

I like Jamaal Charles & the Chiefs over the Ravens.

Jets over Colts.

Saints over Seahawks, immediately destroying the Pete Carroll vs Mark Sanchez Super Bowl Dream Match. It'll be closer than most expect, but the Saints still win.

Eagles over Packers. Vick and McCoy do a LOT of running, Brandon Jackson does not. I have this uneasy confidence in Andy Reid's preparation for playing the Packers (then the Bears) a second time this year. Eagles vs Falcons MUST happen.

Welcome home, men of the 2nd Bn, 127th Infantry, 32d "Red Arrow" Brigade, WI Army National Guard! Job well done in Iraq!

(EDIT: Attention mods...the NFL has changed their playoff logos. If you'd like the current ones, here ya go.)

Watch for a photographer with an obscenely bright neon-green-yellow hat (OF DOOM) on the sidelines Sunday in Philly...that'll be yours truly.

OK, da picks:

WILD-CARD WEEKEND:

AFC: COLTS over Jets. NY is just too streaky, and even with a banged-up supporting cast, I can't see Peyton Manning going 1-and-done in the playoffs.

Ravens over CHIEFS. KC won their division despite getting swept by Oakland...smells like vulnerability to me. Or Old Spice, as Ray Lewis has himself a field day.

NFC: Saints over SEAHAWKS. Child, please.

Packers over EAGLES. Pack seems to bounce back from crappy offensive showings (@ NYJ, @ Det) with a proper performance. Plus, the Eagles are a little unreliable themselves, and Vick is playing hurt.

DIVISIONAL ROUND:

AFC: STEELERS over Colts. Peyton runs out of gas in The Big Ketchup Bottle.

PATRIOTS over Ravens. Revenge for last year. Pats are clicking on all cylinders now...and even their D should trump Joe Flacco.

NFC: Saints over BEARS. Cutlerized. Ask a Broncos fan.

Packers over FALCONS. Almost beat 'em last time; sloppy play & mistakes by Green Bay cost 'em another potential statement road win. Not twice in a row, man (fingers crossed.)

CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS:

AFC: PATRIOTS over Steelers. Big Ben & Co. aren't gonna derail the Brady Express.

NFC: SAINTS over Packers. New Orleans is weaker this year, but I just can't see a Packer team with this many starters on IR getting through this many other good NFC teams. Superdome prevails. I bang my head against a wall and get very drunk again.

AFC-NFC WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP GAME (saved an NFL Properties fee there): Patriots over Saints.

If only the Packers were healthy...

No, Josh Scobey that Guru is talking about did return kicks for a year or two. My bad, I just saw the P and K part. Then added in picking up Scobee on a fantasy team this morning and it all clicked in a wrong way.
