Yeah, it's a cheesy ripoff of the PC vs. Mac commercials, but at least it's a funny cheesy ripoff!

Count me in on the Wii side, by the way. And I'll get a 360, too. PS3, eh, not so much.

I'm definitely leaning towards the 360 this generation of systems, but I'm still taking PS3 over Wii. Maybe the reason the playstation girl is so fat and the Nintendo girl is so skinny is because the Nintendo girl is starving for games that are actually worth playing.

I thought it was the other way around with the slim, sexy girl representing the "sexy" Playstation and the plump, geeky girl representing the "geeky" Wii.

That's what I get for exiting after less than a minute.

I think when slim, sexy girl said "Hello, I am a Wii." and plump, geeky girl said "And I am a Playstation 3" within the first 10 seconds of the spot, that was suppose to be a clue. But maybe it wasn't quite obvious enough.

On the one hand, that ad was a nice tongue-in-cheek parody of the mac/PC ads. On the other hand, I don't think the Wii is *that* sexy, and the analogy felt forced at times. Still, what does it say about how Nintendo's changed their image for this coming generation of consoles when, if a similar ad was made featuring the Gamecube, it would have been portrayed by an 8-year old?

I thought it was funny, but it was a bit longish. The ad isn't by Nintendo though, it's a G4 produced bit.

Wrote off PS3 as soon as I saw the price tag. I'll miss Tekken and JRPGs, but hot damn $229 vs $599 isn't even a question for me.

Is anyone even that excited about Bluray? Yeah, it looks better than DVD, but Laserdisc looked a lot better than VHS as well. I know several poorer people, myself included, who only purchased a DVD player within the past 4 years.

I posted this already in another thread but my basic take was no, I don't think people will care a bit about the Bluray. If they make players much much cheaper and include the ability to play current DVD's, they'll have a chance. But I mean DVD players had to hit the $100 mark before they really took off and they offered a lot more over VHS than Bluray does over DVD.

Rumors so far range from the Wii pricing anywhere from $250 to $170. The $170 comes from Japan this past week or so and seems a bit low I would bet, but still. If Nintendo really wants to make a splash I could see it happening and it would be a huge help to them.

And the PS3 girl was adorable. THen again, I don't like women who double as toothpicks.

In the Wii/PS3 war, I'll probably go with the PS3, providing it's truly backward compatible with both prior generations of Playstation games. If not...then it'll have to wait.

Another thing that helped "Middle America" switch to DVDs was when Wal-Mart, Best Buy, and other "big box" stores finally started to eliminate VHS tapes from their shelves.

When you have only one choice, with the prices of the players dropping, it is easy to make the switch.

Ha! Im going to Art School, and Im scrambling to pay for that racket-

So, If I get any of these new generation consoles it will definitely be the Wii... I mean, you will be able to play any NES, Snes, and N64 title via WiFi- plus thanks to definite backwards compatibility: Gamecube classics!

Sony can take their ridiculous price tag and they can shove it...

right into a lower price range hopefully

--- ---

If anything, Im thinking of picking up a DS Lite, grabbing Advanced Wars, Mario Kart, New SMB and Mario 64 for it... between those 4 games I wouldn't need another gaming system again.

Normally I only have it on when I'm home - turn it on when I get home in the evening and turn it off before I go to bed. I usually don't trust it to run on it's own.
