Irrespective of how much you (or even I) might like skorpio17, I'm not a big fan of all this backroom stuff happening out in the open on this board. I really wish you'd either opened the league to EVERYBODY, or not posted about it here, because the next step is we end up with ANOTHER league being announced here and the next thing you know this board is filled up with fantasy crap.

That said... God DAMN but you're a real dumbass, Brian.

Z: He pm'd me, I pm'd him back, and I thought I was very diplomatic about the whole thing. ALSO: I thought this thread :http://wienerboard.com/thread.php/id=15123 summed up many of the the players from last season's feelings about Mr. 17.

In the context of baseball, the use of drugs hurts only the player. In the context of baseball, the use of alcohol hurts only the player. In the context of baseball, womanizing hurts whom? Maybe the wife of the player? In the context of baseball, felonies are crimes against society, not against baseball. In the context of baseball, gambling is the only crime against baseball.

Gambling, in the context of baseball, is a capital offense and Rose has richly earned-- hell, he agreed to-- his death sentence. Let him hang.

Let's all try to get along. I'm probably going to skip this league and try to get an AL only league going at my work (the thought being that we won't have to root against the Padres that often)

It was a lot of fun, but my wife doesn't want to hear me rooting for opposing players at Padres games this year.

Willful ignorance of science is not commendable. Refusing to learn the difference between a credible source and a shill is criminally stupid.

I usually hope that the only the guys I own perform mediocrely (is that a word) against the Cubs, while the rest of their team stinks it up. That way its not hurting me in real life or in fantasy.

I HATE being a youth who cares more about the real sport than any ficticious glory. Wait, no I don't.

Plus, I pre-ranked the entire Red Sox starting lineup ahead of anyone on any other team in the AL East.

Whitebacon: It is one thing to be a sore loser, it is another to be a coward. I know that last year you said you would be in our league only to chicken-out later and not join up. For you to criticize anyone who had the balls to participate last year is retarded. Now you are scared that I will win it again, so you wont let me play. You should change your name to Yellowbacon. You are a fucking coward and a bullshit commissioner.

Whoever wins this years fantasy title wont have much to brag about. It would be like winning an NBA title during Jordans first retirement. Or winning a baseball title in a league where the Yankees are not allowed to play.

I didn't read Whitebacon's post that way. I read his paragraph and all I got was "hopefully we won't have a problem because hopefully Skorpio17 won't be an ass this year." Not "Skorpio17 can't play." But I'm probably wrong...

And if I am, and you can't play, then you should just start your own league and get all the serious fantasy baseball people to join. Without all those losers who just want to "have fun," your league would have all the cred at this board, wouldn't it?

    Edited for clarity

I read his post the same way as you did. That is why I wasted my time PMing him. Anyway it is impossible for Whitebacon and myself to mutually coexist.

So Id like to announce the opening of a brand new fantasy baseball league. This Expert league on Yahoo will have the following features:

- 5x5 mixed league scoring system.
- FREE for everything
- A FAIR commissioner
- A weekly newsletter
- Grand Prize of $100 to $200

There is only one catch. To be eligible to compete in my Expert league, you may not participate in Whitebacons league. Anybody found to be participating in his league as well will forfeit their claim to the cash prize.

PM me if interested.

(I respect what CRZ has said. So I promise not to flood this board with fantasy baseball stuff. I will limit my fantasy posts here to one per month.)

I think there HAS to be a live draft for the league to be good.

I don't care either way. Inevitably I end up with about 2 guys left from my original team by all-star break anyhow :)

Wacky, we have THREE Calgary teams:
Calgary Cannons
Calgary Hitmen
Calgary Expos

Small market, my ass.

And Quezzy, I count 20 teams. I'm not sure how many teams there's room for, so hit up Whitebacon 'cause he'll probably know.

And one of those team owners isn't even in Calgary.

And damn you, Freeway...I was just on my way to change my team name to the Cannons! :)

Yeah, that'd be me, but I've been running the Calgary Hitmen in the Wienerboard leagues for 3 seasons now. I liked the Bret Hart reference initially, and now it just feels stuck. (Not like my team in my Keeper League. I just don't see Chief Morley's Band returning under the same banner.)

In theory I'm all for it, except for the 8:15 am on a saturday bit, but that's not really a BIG problem unless I get drunk on Friday night.
In practice I'm prolly gunna get laughed at in a live draft.
But I'm still for it if we can do it.

They key, Merc, is to stay up all night drinking, and then draft from there. The sustaining power of booze will give you strength.

What a terrific win pulled off by the Pittsburgh Cubs. Come on, Randall Simon-2 run homer, Kenny Lofton-scored winning run, and last but not least, Aramis Ramirez-managed to boot a ball and win the game because of it.
