I'm not sure why or how I can explain it, but I see Jericho retaining at the Rumble. Either Austin or HHH will win the Rumble itself (and if they don't, I see a #1 contenders' match for No Way Out - maybe even if they do), setting up a Jericho/(Winner) match at WM. Now, will Jericho drop the belt in that time? Only if Austin/HHH/Rock turns heel, in which case, it'll be one of them against whoever beat Jericho at No Way Out.

However, as always, opinions open to discussion.

Not that I care, but I don't think they'd be dumb enough to job Jericho in Toronto. Then again this is the company that turned Austin heel in his hometown even though there was no other top face in the company to take the role. No way will Jericho be in the main event, this is Wrestlemania where they forget about the midcarders and put the top dogs in the main.

A Fan had a very good point at the end of his post -- what if they are going to use this main event to jump-start the company split?

If the WWF does split into two divisions with separate rosters and separate TV shows, each division had better have a champion. Otherwise, what will the main eventers on one show feud over if there is still an undisputed champ in the other division?

Main event prediction for the Rumble: Controversy. This would allow Flair to name the Rock as his champion in the Smackdown division (Smackdown is the Rock's show, you know). McMahon can name Jericho as his champ in the Raw division. An RVD/Jericho main event wouldn't accomplish this nearly as well as Rock/Jericho.

What all this would do to Wrestlemania is up in the air. I'm sure Vinnie Mac knows, but he ain't sharing.

Gav, all that would do is set up another Unification bout at Wrestlemania, SOMEHOW it would work out to be Rock vs. Stone Cold, because VKM would cheat to keep SC in his own camp, or something like that.

But, they're not smart enough to pull all of that off right... and it's a damn shame.

Just for the record, Houston is NOT Austin's hometown. Austin's hometown is Victoria, which is not too far away. And his parents currently live in Houston I think, but Houston is not his hometown. Anyway, I don't think Jericho would ever beat Rock cleanly, because he is becoming a champion like Kurt Angle, who never even got booked in a clean victory over Crash Holly. Anyway, since this will be yet another rematch for Rock/Jericho and Jericho defeating the Rock again at Vengeance, I think Rock will win. Rock has also never defeated Jericho in a ppv setting before either.

HHH vs. Austin vs. Rock is THE money match. They promised it once (SS 99?) and didn't deliver because of Austin's injuries. And they also have the perfect opportunity to do the match and have everyone keep their heat because of this "split" thing. Check it out.

Rock gets the titles away from Jericho, either at the Rumble or No Mercy.

Austin and HHH have a "Bret/Lugar" ending to the Rumble. This sets up a 3-way.

Promote the hell out of this "epic confrontation" for one or two months.

"Split" storyline happenes

The Wrestlemania match is the same as the Jericho/Angle/Benoit match for the "Eurocontinental" title. Each fall gets one belt. Each champ heads up one promotion.

Austin pins HHH for one belt, HHH pins Austin for the other. Both keep their heat, and both new champs are established as equal (so we don't get an "A" league and "B" league kind of feel to the split).

Rock loses both titles, but doesn't get pinned (although I don't think it matters if they both pin Rock instead, Rock can job to Funaki and Ivory in the same night and still keep his heat). Rock can take his promotional tour off, leading to big speculation about which league he will return to.

I like Moe's idea, if only because I'd really like to see Rock jobbing to Funaki and Ivory in one night. I also am not seeing a 2 man main event at WM. Which one of your big three would *you* want to go tell him he's not main eventing. Though if someone is going to get knocked out of the main, I would think it would be the Rock, since I get the sense he figures that he can let HHH play politics, since in 2 years he's gonna be too busy swimming in cash and being hailed as the biggest action star in the world.

There, I feel better now.

I also like Moe's idea.

Only one problem. It's too good and logical to ever be used outside of e-fedding :-P

Just kidding Moe!

Yes, I also agree that Moe's idea rocks the party that rocks the body. (TM, Edge 2000. How dare that fat untalented rapper steal Edge's ha-larious line.)

I'm also having visions of Mick Foley being the guest referee, turning on Austin and Rock to give H one of the falls, then cutting great promos for the next couple of months ripping on the two like he did on Dreamer in 95. Imagine the swerve. To put it in algebraic expression,

FOLEY + HEEL TURN = RUSSO - BISCHOFF x HEYMAN.

Why are people assuming that Jericho has to turn face by the time WM comes around. Yeah, it's in Canada, but so what. Jericho is supposed to be a heel. Besides he's from Winnipeg, not Toronto. If Jericho can't get over as a heel in a country as big as Canada then it means one of two things:

1. Jericho doesn't deserve to be a main eventer.

or

2. Canadians are a bunch of mind-numbed sheep.

Now seeing as a) I like Jericho as champ and b) I've talked to plenty of Canadians to know they aren't all stupid, I would guess that Jericho could main event as a heel come WM if that's in the plans. It may take some home-bashing (like admitting that he lives in Florida now), but it could be done.

Couldn't it?

How about something different? Like the Rock WINNING at Wrestlemania for once.
