Haven't they been building up Jericho vs. RVD for the last month? I hate it when WWF does crap like this. Kind of like when last year WWF was building up a Jericho/Angle WWF title feud but seemingly threw it out at the last second and set up a lame Angle/HHH feud for the Rumble. Granted we did get a great Jericho/Benoit match out of it, but still why does WWF always seem to throw out any long term plans they have. I was actually kind of excited about a Jericho/RVD title match where they get over 20 minutes, and wasn't a hardcore, no rules type of thing. Rock and Jericho have good matches, but they wrestled already in 3 big matches at No Mercy, RAW, and Vengeance. What is wrong with trying to develop a new main event with different players?

Nothing is wrong with the WWF pushing stars, the new rumor is that RVD will win the Rumble that is huge, but at the right time. The Rock is the number one star for the WWF and he should have shots at the WWF title same goes for Austin, Angle and Booker T. Booker T/Austin will due more for Booker than Austin if they get that fat bastard away from him. It would be cool to see RVD/Jericho, but I expect that fued to end this Raw or Smackdown to give way to building Rock/Jericho. Another round of RVD/Taker would be fun as well.

Is RVD not a star? He is one of the most popular guys they have, and at times the tv crew has had to edit the chants he gets during matches with him and the Rock. As for RVD winning the Royal Rumble, not going to happen, unless WWF does their old "oh he won the Royal Rumble, but didn't really win so here is a new #1 contender." The thing is, there is nothing wrong with guys like Rock getting title shots, but why not let new guys who could be potentially big draws develop. I mean Rock's held the title 6 times, and I wouldn't be suprised if he is in the Wrestlemania main event for the FOURTH year in a row.

Yeah, I have been moping around at another Jericho/Rock title match. I think it kinda sucks only because of the potential star power the Rumble match itself would have had. Sure, it will still have a great deal of talent but Jericho/Rock is a bit tired IMO. I will get the PPV only because I am interested in what HHH's role will be. I hope he is in the Rumble match and wins it. I would love it! I just want to see some fresh stuff and I hope the next few months will be a good surprise

I don't really get it either, I mean Rock is going over at Wrestlemania right? So how could he possibly win it at Royal Rumble? Unless, you think maybe, he's going to successfully defend at Wrestlemania? When was the last time that happened? Wrestlemania 3 wasn't it? Could be I guess, but doesn't that mean Austin will job? Now apparently, HHH is a face, Austin's a face, Rock is a face? It doesn't make sense since they're obviously not pushing Jericho. We know HHH doesn't job and Austin probably owes Rock a job, so what's going to happen? And where the hell is this going? And why the hell do I care.

Yours truly, The Big O.

If Rock does win, he could jobb it at No Way Out and face Jericho or Angle again. Or the WWF could bring up the fact that Rock has never won at Wrestlemania except his first year. They could run a thing where his opponett comes him to the Boston Red Soxes and Wrestlemania is the World Series, he always chokes. It would be a cool thing to do, but I still see HHH/Austin at Wrestlemania with HHH being the heel. I think this is a minor face push until No Way Out.

Of course, I am forgetting the company spilt after the Rumble which would change everything. I wouldn't mind seeing HHH vs. Austin vs. Jericho vs. Rock at Wrestlemania, they all deserve it and Jericho could turn face by being the only Canadian to win the belt in Canada at Wrestlemania. I'm sure the Cannucks would love it. Or throw a returning Benoit into the mix.

They are probably doing Rock/Jericho because Rock and Jericho had the best PPV main event match Jericho has had --at No Mercy--since that Last Man Standing Match with HHH. And people will pay to see Rock get one of those belts back. Hopefully, it won't happen. We'll see.

What should they do instead?

I think they wanted to make sure they could keep all 3 of the big faces out of each other's way. So Jericho v Rock has more to do with keeping Rock out of the rumble rather than the WWF wanting another match between the two.

DrOp, personally I was liking the whole idea of Jericho v. RVD. It would have been a different feud for the title, and the first in a long time not featuring any of the big three. And considering that the Rumble match is always the main selling point, I don't think anyone could complain about it being a drag on the buyrate or anything of that sort. Rock v. Jericho was a nice set of matches, but they could have gotten that RR 92 feel going w/Rock in the match, and really having a lot of viable winners.

There, I feel better now.

Jerciho/RVD would have been a nice change, but they can still milk that feud a little later. RVD is very over, but it's obvious that Vince doesn't think that will translate into PPV buys.

Rock and/or Austin HAD to step up to Jericho. They both lost to this guy and only the Rock has even mentioned that he wants his belt back in the past few weeks. At the very least Austin could say that he hasn't forgotten about Jericho, but that he just needs to kick Booker's ass first. THEN he's gonna come get back HIS title.

And yes, that does keep Rock away from Austin and H}{H by keeping him out of the Rumble.

Is it me or does Jericho add 1 voctory against the Rock everytime he mentions that he has beaten him?

Why does everyone think it's a foregone conclusion that the Rock will get World Title #7 at The Rumble?

The Rock is the Main Event Jobber - and Jericho just won the World Title. The only one who can gain from this match is Jericho. He has to retain.

IF (and I emphasize "if").... the WWF is truly serious about pushing Chris Jericho, they'll have him be the Unified World Champion until WM - where (I think) he'll job it to HHH (who will win the Rumble).

As far as RVD goes, I think he's not ready yet. I don't think the WWF is going to risk a Jericho/RVD main event and it doesn't draw.

Actually, I get the distinct feeling that they are doing it because they are the guys who are main eventing. And, I should point out, some other main eventers decided to throw themselves into the Royal Rumble instead of beating up the Rock and TAKING the #1 contender slot

See, the biggest problem here is that I, like many smarks, have a distinct liking towards the middle of the card. In fact, in many cases the past three years, if you wanted to see some good action, you looked at the middle of the card. RVD, regardless of his popularity, is in the middle of the card. Jericho WAS in the middle of the card, but is no longer... or at least, is trying not to be. The thing about main eventers is that they use midcarders to build themselves. RVD is still a buildee, not a builder.

And then, of course, there's the upper echelon, which is higher than the main event echelon [which apparently has too many people...] That 'upper' echelon is quite frankly the guys the company needs to survive, the guys the company could through in a mud pit and still get ratings out of it: Austin, Rock, HHH. Any of them can realistically do whatever the hell they want, and they'll get a crowd to react. I mean, how else do you explain the lack of logic involved in the Rock winning MULTIPLE handicap matches? Eh... once you're up here, you just can't go back. I mean, they tried an Intercontinental Title reign on HHH, and while it temporarily lifted Jeff Hardy in many aspects, it didn't look right on HHH. He didn't have a reason to have it, per se, considering he's always been the guy who wanted to be #1, or was #1 [see: beginning of the year 2000, when all we saw on programming was the McMahon-Helmsley Era]

You can go back down to the mid card after TRYING to fit into the main event picture [see Jericho and Angle, for example], but you can't go back from the upper echelon.

Wrestling is different now, in some cases it's unfortunate: I mean, there was a day that even I accepted Hogan and Warrior having the World and Intercontinental Titles. I could have bought two uppers having the two top titles before, now I just can't. Maybe the IC title just doesn't have value anymore [I am NOT insulting Edge, damn you, I like him, but something in that title doesn't make it worth Jack or the Shit that he lets out]

---=---:---=---
[Look up a line]
Wow, that belt looks like crap... I'll take it and carry it around for years and see if people can take it away from me... What? What was that? You mean even THIS belt doesn't matter! What? I'm insulted! Get away from me you... you... defiler!

Didn't they do RVD/Jericho on 2 PPV's this year?
It would have been nice for them to do, as it would see them follow a storyline to conclusion for once. It also seemed like Jericho was more over fueding with RVD, then whatever he's been doing for the past week. It broke my heart, the crowd was SILENT during the match with Rikishi at the garden last night, up until the stinkface bit. That was truly disheartening. I hate to think that some of what Lance Storm said may have been true about having a name that people can chant. "Y2J SUCKS" or "Jericho Sucks" is hard for the crowd to manage. That needs to be rectified quickly.

They gotta bring these back!!!:
"talk to the hand because the man don't understand." - "The Crippler" Chris Benoit
"...and that is the LAST WORD." - "The Big Nasty" Paul Wight
and of course: "Don't hate the playa...HATE THE GAME~!" - WCW World Champion Booker T

I hadn't noticed that...if not, he should. There's no way they're going to have Jericho be a world beater as a heel, especially not as a heel champ. And really, it's Jericho, he shouldn't be. I think this is what a lot of us wanted, the old cheating, whining, loser who finds the most obnoxious ways to win. That's what got Jericho here, if that's the way it's got to be, I'd like to see him continue to run with things like adding even more victories and blatantly lying about his accomplishments. That's what made me go from someone who thought Chono kicking Lionheart Jericho in the groin in WCW was the best thing Jericho did to a fan of his after he turned heel. He's great at it.

I'll tell you what's wrong with the IC title...Billy Gunn, Chyna, Marc Mero (I think), etc..
People like this holding the belt killed it.
I also like the idea of the upper echelon, I never really thought of it but it makes sense.

Quoth Kawshen: "Why does everyone think it's a foregone conclusion that the Rock will get World Title #7 at The Rumble?"
Because it's getting to the time of year when they need to begin setting up the WM Main Event, and this year they've got to find a way to fit 3 people into a 2 person space. I have lots of trouble picturing Austin or Rock or HHH in anything but the WM Main Event, so they're going to have to figure out something to do with the three of them. I am seeing something happening around the time of RR (either the PPV or the Raw after that) between Austin and HHH, one of whom will win the Rumble, causing them to fight over who gets to go to WM. I'm still seeing a 3 way dance at WM, with Rock, Austin, and a freshly heel turned HHH for the title, with Rock losing to HHH in some sort of McMahon screwjob, freeing up the Austin HHH feud for the summer while Rock goes off to promote Scorpion King.

I'm in the Jericho main eventing WM camp.

I wouldn't be surpirsed if the following two scenarios happen:

1. Jericho pins Rock cleanly to gain heat, HHH wins the Rumble. HHH/Jericho at WM.

2. Jericho loses to the Rock, but then beats him to regain the titles at NWO, HHH wins the Rumble and defeats Angle in a #1 Contenders match at NWO...longer drawn out story but still HHH/Jericho at WM.

Kawshen--feeding Rock to Jericho would be ag good move. THEN they need to feed H}{H to him as well. We'll see. Keep your fingers crossed.

Squire--they did do Jericho/RVD and a LOT of people liked it a lot. It seems as if a lot of people thought--especially with the the early Poster shots --thought that RVD would headline the PPV against Jericho. He's not now and some folks are disappointed that's it's going to be Rock/Jericho again. I say they can have another **** match.
I guess we'll have to see.

Dr.U--I REALLY think he's adding a victory every promo. I'll have to watch SD! On RAW he said he had beaten the Rock 4 times. And I beleive that on the previous SD! he said he had beaten him 3 times. I could go read Z's recaps, but I'm feeling lazy.
