I think the publicity they will get in LA will translate to more PPV cash then selling out a larger arena. I mean if they sell out an arena your talking about 2-3 million more buckls but getting publicity for the biggest PPV of the year in a hugely populated city is far more valuable. From all reports I saw WMXX was covered massively in the New York press and the WWE mobilized their promotions team inside the city the week of the event to make sure everyone knew about it. LA seems like a good choice. Although, I too think they need to come bacvk to St. Louis for a PPV.

You're kidding, right? VI has nothing except for Hogan-Warrior, and X8 had nothing except for Hogan-Rock.
And New Jersey needs to get another pay per view someday. Although I shouldn't complain, we usually get a few shows a year.

Fuck Jersey, how about WWE remembering where it's from? (Even if it's only for tax purposes.) More PPV's in Connecticut. We'll be hot if we've got a reason to be.

I agree, I'm THRILLED that WM21 is going to be held at the Staples Center, because, if I pony up the dough for a ticket, I'LL actually be able to attend it. I was just thinking during XX that I really need to go to a Wrestlemania just to experience the atmosphere, just as I need to go to Wrigley, and catch a game at Arrowhead Stadium.

Mike, who went to WM19 and is going to WM21 :)
Well, DUH. We haven't had a Wrestlemania in TEN WHOLE YEARS. (wails)
Is it possible to be spoiled and not actually get anything you want?

same place that was used on the last hour of 24 last season i think.
Two reasons.
A) They can't sell it out. B) It's outdoors.

Guys, doesn't matter where WM 21 will be, it will be great. I read here only complains.
Milwaukee??? That I not laugh. They know, what WWE is????
I'm living in the greatest Entertainment City of the World "Viva Las Vegas". They have to bring a Pay-per-View to Vegas. The last one was "No Way Out 2001". After this, we had once Raw and two non-televised events. The last one is almost a year ago. I thought, we would get "Judgement Day", but wrong!!!!! Damn LA area got it. There are every month there. I'm sick of it, that California get prefert from all others.
We have a great Arena, the Thomas and Mack Center and it is everytime sold out, when WWE comes in town.
More WWE for Viva Las Vegas. WM 22 to Nevada.

i know it ws an issue with the whole slaughter/iraq sympathzier in 91 but why would it matter now?
but not selling it out is a valid point
One of the biggest problems with outdoor arenas (as much as I love them) is crowd noise . . . or more specifically, lack thereof. Without a roof, the sound just goes up and away and the crowd sounds very quiet. Look at WM 9 for an example of this. Another problem is that it reduces their ability to use special effects for wrestler's entrances.
I LOVE the atmosphere of "the outdoor arena," because it looks very special, but I think WWE cares more about crowd response. :(

Don't forget about the chance of rain. Although that would make for quite the visual effect:)
As long as it's in a stadium with a retractable roof, I don't see it being much of a problem. It worked fine last year in Seattle.
And, if I remember correctly, THAT WM sold out so I think the "they can't sell out a stadium" argument is a moot point at this time. Let's not forget wrestling was on it's downswing popularity-wise in '91, compared to more recent years.
Am I crazy in thinking that Las Vegas should get a yearly "Raw (or Smackdown) Roulette" PPV of all gimmick matches? Doing this for a Wrestlemania might be a bit much, but those gimmick shows have made for a couple of pretty fun episodes of Raw so far.
WM 9, though the card itself was crap, had one of the best atmospheres of any Wrestlemania. The Caesar's Palace stadium had just the right size and the Roman theme was pretty cool.
Granted, but the LA Coliseum holds about twice as many people as Safeco. Even if they drew 50,000, it'd still look like crap because the stadium would be half full. Using curtains to block off sections wouldn't work in an arena without a roof, as it would make it look even worse.

A couple of episodes of Raw that on a larger scale you'd pay $35 for? The problem with that is just promoting it since you can't hype any of the gimmicks.
