I understand why they have to blur out all the WWFs but, why are they changing the actual content of the clips? First, they changed HHH's "My Time" theme and video to his current Motorhead theme and video. That was stupid but, rather minor. Then, this week, they edited the footage of the night Undertaker forced Jim Ross to kiss Vince's ass so it appeared that Kurt Angle was the one that forced Jim Ross to kiss Vince's ass. That's incredibly lame and somewhat insulting to the intelligence of the viewers. What's the point of showing memorable clips if they're just going to change the clips? What will they do next? Show an old clip of deadman Undertaker and replace his funeral theme with Limp Bizkit's "Rollin"? Maybe they'll show a clip of the HHH vs. Ultimate Warrior WrestleMania match and edit it so that it appears HHH actually beat the Ultimate Warrior despite getting no offense. Maybe they'll replay a clip of the Montreal screwjob and edit it to make it look like Bret Hart actually did submit. Hell, if they're going to be stupid, might as well go all out.

I think Vince has always gotten off on changing history. When Flair came in they made him say things that weren't really part of history. Same with Bischoff. For a few weeks there, Confidential was all about rewriting history.

I guess because there is no real documentation of wrestling history, Vince feels he can just change it at will.

Yeah, I noticed that too--it was hard to miss--and the only solution I could come up with was that the incident in question was the moment of Taker's heel turn last year. Right now, he's a face, and so apparently his heelishness must be forgotten for the nonce. *shrug* Is this really all that different from the way WWE usually handles face/heel turns? They rewrite history at every turn, so to speak...

I think it's silly as well, but the live crowd sees the Retro Raw clips so I guess they don't want to bring heat on the wrestlers if they had been a heel before.

With changing the music, the only think I can say is it's probably because of the rights to reuse it. This happened a lot in the ECW DVDs and other media.

EDIT: Oh yeah, why do they show the RAW Retro clips on Smackdown? I thought they were supposed to be different *snicker*

The exclusion of Taker in Monday's Raw Retro has puzzled me. I think they showed Heel Austin when they showed MilkaMania.

Or maybe Taker and WWE are on the outs?

We can only hope, Tom. I wonder what (if anything) they'll do when (or if) they decide to show Y2J beating Triple H....except it never happened.

Why do I watch? Because every episode has the potential to be the best one ever, and I'll be DAMNED if I'm gonna miss that one after sitting through this shit.

Y2J beating HHH is listed in the ballot for the greatest Raw moment. But they haven't showed that yet.
Also Y2J's debut is on that list but I haven't seen that as well.

Yet they showed 123 Kid-Razor Ramon and they're not even in the company anymore.

Strange.

Actually, I think they did show Y2J's debut. Might have been during a Confedential or Velocity, though, but I'm pretty sure I saw it.

Then why did they show Heel Rock in the "Austin Funeral"?

Except the Triple H "My Time" theme is on the Anthology CD so it makes no sense at all.

Is it just their way of saying, "look at what we can do, we change anything so F-You"? It sure seems that way.

Yes, I think it was either one of the Saturday night shows or Sunday Night Heat because I remember watching it on a show that I recorded while I wasn't at home. I also remember that they edited that segment also. Although they didn't alter the content of Jericho's exchange with Rock, they did change some of the camera angles from what they showed on the actual Raw show of jericho's debut. I don't know why they did that either. At the time, I thought they were trying to hide the WWF logo on the Titantron behind Jericho. Either way, I still think it's stupid to show memorable clips and alter them, whatever their reasons are. I understand that they have to block out or blur the WWF logo but, changing the content or anything else in a clip just eliminates the whole purpose of showing a memorable clip, IMHO.

That's exactly what I would expect them to show under that theory. Rocky is: A. not around at the moment, and B. probably going to come back as a heel. Showing clips like that one is a good way to remind everyone of the kind of heat he generated as a bad guy.

You didn't think they were choosing those retro clips because they were the BEST moments of all time, did you? ;-) Most of the ones they have shown have served a current storyline purpose of one kind or another.

Most brutal fan attack I have seen involved the late Road Warrior Hawk. It was on a very old AWA video of the Road Warrior. The Warriors were heading for a match, I think against Sgt. Slaughter and an unknown partner.
