Mcmahon they need to buy No Way Out. Everyone complains about the likes of Eddie Geurrero never getting a push. Everyone complains about never having a cruiserweight push. Now Eddie gets his title shot and Rey Mysterio is getting a semi headlining match with Chavo. Buy this PPV! or don't bitch about the big guys being pushed to the moon. Send him a message when he does something good maybe he will do it again. Of course maybe he's starting to get the idea with Benoit & Eddie getting huge pushes.
and thats all i have to say about that!| Promote this thread! | | BigVitoMark

The build to Fully Loaded 2000 was centered entirely around Benoit, Jericho, and Angle, and despite the show doing a great buyrate the only guy who accomplished anything over the following six months was Angle. The PPV did a good buyrate without a marquee Rock vs. HHH or one of them vs. Undertaker match, but it ultimately didn't matter.
I hope you're right...I hope a good NWO buyrate sends a message, but we've been teased with fresh pushes before. I'll believe it if Eddie's still portrayed as one of the top two or three guys on SD three months from now or six months from now.

From what I recall, the triple main event was The Rock defending the WWF Title against Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho facing Triple H in a Last Man Standing Match...and Kurt Angle against the Undertaker. So...it DID have the Undertaker in it.
EDIT: Unless you meant Undertaker against some combination of Rock/HHH. Then...yeah...*trails off*

I don't think you could take two new guys (say, Benoit vs. Jericho at that time, or Orton vs. Cena now) and elevate them simultaneously. You need an established face giving the new guy the rub for more than one match before he's a believable main eventer.

Well, guys like Benoit got the rub as soon as they started hyping him as a former WCW World Champion. I think it's safe to say that without the wars between Benoit, Angle & Jericho, none of them would be in the upper echelon (or close to it) like they are today.

Benoit was pushed as a former WCW Champion? I don't remember that. The only guys I know of who were repeatedly mentioned as competing federation's champions were Tazz and Booker T, Tazz because he won the ECW Title while in the WWF and Booker because he was the WCW Champion when the InVasion began in earnest. And just look where they've gone; Tazz is the best color commentator in the business and Booker's feuding with...who is Booker feuding with? Matt Hardy?
Damn that Triple H; damn him straight to Hell!

| #11 Posted on 4.2.04 0216.14 | Instant Rating: 5.35 | I loved Heyman on color, he always seemed to say things to get the wrestlers over... no puppies. And I knew I was buying No Way Out when I saw that Eddie was getting the title shot. The man is incredible in the ring, his No DQ match with Edge on Smackdown is still in my mind as I write this.
I was there....When Chris Jericho beat Austin and Rock in the same night to become the first ever Undisputed Champion! (And for the incredible Eddie/ Edge "no DQ"!!!) |
