I thought d-lo was being kept off of tv because of droz...

the skuttlebutt was that d-lo and droz are best buds and it shook him [d-lo] sooo much that he's responsable that droz will most likly never walk again, that he lost faith in all his abilities...

i don't blame him...if ***I*** droped my best friend on his head and paralized him...

it's a combo of a) the fed making sure d-lo is mentally and emotionally ready to return, and b) d-lo can regain is confidace as a wrestler and understand that it was an accident and sometimes they do happen...look at owen-austin...and everyone automatically assumes [hivemind???] that anyone from the dungeon is the end all and be all of wrestling and owen 3:16 says he just broke [austin's] neck...

i hope he comes back and reclaims HIS euro title...

Talking about hivemind, I've seen a whole cluster of people who insist, even though they weren't there, and never saw the incident, that D'Lo slipped on a soda some fan threw into the ring while trying the doomed running Lygerbomb that broke Droz's neck.

Anyway, isn't Jericho from the dungeon? Because he is certainly not what I'd call the be all and end all of wrestling (or vice versa). He's adequate enough in the ring, but nothing spectacular, especially with his lazy streak for the last year or so before he turned heel.

Piss beetle? That's an interesting one...

Ya know, for some reason, I foresaw something more interesting being my Cruiserweight post. Oh well.

CRZ, one of the main reasons I've stuck with your site is the fact that you do praise the Undertaker. Even if I didn't like the guy, I would be so freaking sick of reading the constant anti-Taker sniping that pops up like fruiting fungus bodies all over the Net that I would defend him just to be perverse. And I do like him, so reading uncorroborated, unattributed bashes gets my knickers in a knot. Coming here is a positive relief.

Now about Billy Bitchcakes, I will have to be petty and say that no matter what his abilities are, I will forevermore take bathroom breaks during his matches. It might be his squinty little eyes. It might be his frog mouth. It might be some indefinable aura of ickiness that clings like invisible slime to his overtanned, over-roided musculature. Brr. Even thinking about him long enough to describe him makes me faintly physically ill.

Yet you'll always be perceived of as one of the flock because most everyone else hates Gunn too.

I know how you feel. Benoit's been one of my favorite wrestlers for years before I ever thought of looking at anything on the internet, let alone wrestling. Hell, I didn't even read mark mags. I just liked Benoit, for my own reasons.

Yet on the net, I'm thought of as one of the flock, because most everyone likes Benoit too.

Okay, so alcohol makes me talkative.

Still, I have had SOME worthwhile things to say. I usually only post in spurts anyway, no matter where I go. I'll likely end up lurking for an eon or too soon enough anyway, if that's a major concern.

Personally, I really did enjoy Billy back when he and Bart were together. I couldn't tell you why, specifically, but I liked the team... they entertained me. Hell, when Billy turned, I remember being interested as to how it'd turn out.

And it turned into ROCKABILLY. Whew. But, that was okay, because that led, eventually, to his teaming with another faux-country boy refugee to form the New Age Outlaws, another Perfectly Acceptable Team. When they were fresh, and new, they were quite a bit of fun to watch.

That ended in a big way, though. When the NAO turned face, I lost interest. Cocky, arrogant chickenshit heels who cheated to win? Gotta like that. But remove the cheating to win, and you're left with catchphrases, wiggly-wobbly-woobly moves and Billy's buttcheeks.

That type of heel can get away with being limited in the ring, because they can do nefarious things to make up for it. You *know* they don't deserve to win, it's *obvious* they don't, but they do anyway because they used brass knucks/distracted the ref/insert heel cliche here.

Turn 'em face, and you have people selling the offense that they weren't selling before, unless it was preceded by a chairshot.

Then, they split up, and it got worse, because they couldn't make up for each other's shortcomings in the ring. Over time, watching bad performance after bad performance, you wind up at the point where you groan and get a snack/take a pee break/change the channel when they come on. All I ever heard of their entrances was "Oh, you didn't *click*" or "I'm an ass m*click*" and then it was "Hey, look, Nitro." Although... I'd switch back in a second if it was Rick Steiner on the other channel.

I've never claimed that Billy Gunn is some sort of walking time bomb, waiting for the chance to kill some poor, innocent jobber... but I'll tell you what, my friends and I have gotten quite the education on how wrestling matches are constructed by watching his opponents try and work around his rather obvious stamina problems. "Hey, check it out, he tossed him out... yep, there he is, suckin' wind on the outside. BRING YOUR INHALER NEXT TIME, BILLY!" (:

Both Papercuts and CRZ make some good points about the hive..
It is obvious people will influence one another. Some (such as I) disagree for a large part but when asked I will burn Gunn (or Bossman) just because it is fun to do

I never really knew the Smoking Gunns, only from tapes I got after they split up, so no comments on that..
NAO were awesome. as has been pointed out they filled one anothers shortcomings..
at first i actually doubted if Dogg knew ANY moves and thought Billy was the drivng force.
Then they split up and RD went to the hardcore shit where he could hide his flaws..
Billy got a big push and yes it went wrong there..he was pushed too high too soon.
The KotR I could understand..you can always go back but his Rock-kiss my ass-feud didnt really do anything I believe. I don't know why..

Then the outlaws returned and somehow Billy didn't interest me anymore..I think their 2nd run (leading up to his arm injury) was less impressive to begin with..the (hive) hype was gone ..

After his return he seemed not to be ready. As was pointed out he shuold have not rushed back but he did (or was forced to return so soon? who knows?) He didn't deliver in his matches..
Also ofcourse at that time, the WWF had these new awesome guys who COULD deliver no matter what type of match yuo wanted (Radicalz, Tazz, Angle) and Billy's "pound for pound the best wrestler in the wwf" line that JR gave him was well...gone..
He then became Chyna's sidekick. Instead of the other way around
Less skills than some others, constantly being thrown around with gimmicks and aliances and stuff made him uninterestng..(to me)

Chuck & Billy however do interest me. Billy gets to show he is STILL a good part of the roster.
He can learn Palumbo the ropes and things like that. I see him more in a mentor role now. One that might fit him very well as he has been around for a long long time.

The Benoit accident, yes as far as I recall he almost injured him. Just as Benoit almost broke Sabu's neck (both men are too blame I bet, for both incidents..just bad luck) and no, I dont read meltzer, keith or whomever you mentioned.
Should Billy do high risk moves when he isn't 100% sure he could do him? No. this goes for everyone ofcourse..
Should Billy do high risk moves when he is sure he can do them? Hell yeah!
Should Billy do cool moves that can help him (sleeper drop, fameasser) Hell yeah.

Ok..so i make fun of Billy..but I don't hate him..its easier to make fun though than to explain why you do that or why you don't And at least he doesn't throw fake punches like the Bossman

'The One' Billy Gunn was boring.......Chuck and Billy don't seem much better, but I sure am glad that at least Gunn doesn't wear the Spangled Ass Pants he was before teaming up w/ Chucky.

They just creeped me out. Not sure why.

I could care less what the "hive" thinks. Billy Gunn just doesn't entertain me in the ring like most other wrestlers. I mean, he's adequate when he tries but that's just it. He's just average. He looks good, he seems to have heat, but in the ring, he's not making me giving a shit about the match. I only care if he's facing or tagging with somebody who DOES entertain me, because usually his opponent and/or partner makes Billy look good (i.e. the Road Dogg/Billy Gunn v. Mankind/Chainsaw Charlie feud comes to mind). I don't understand why the WWF is so high on him when there are other wrestlers stuck on Jakked who entertains on their own talent far more than Billy Gunn.

But that's just my opinion.

I don't think (at least the way I understood it) that anyone was accusing you of jumping on a bandwagon, so to speak, regarding wrestlers.

What bothers me is, Pinkskunk (I'm using you just because you were the last one to post), that I'm sure you have many other opinions in wrestling you are not nearly as vocal aout. And if not you, a plethora of others. People know they can get away with bashing Gunn (or Undertaker, or Big Show, or etc) and they do it quite liberally. On the other hand, I am willing to garuntee there is someone on this board who doesn't like Chris Jericho, Benoit, Austin, Angle, or any other wrestler you or I find entertaining, but you won't see them starting threads on it on a regular basis because they are afraid of the reaction they will get.

Just as Benoit almost broke Sabu's neck

Almost?

Also my particular "anti-hive" belief is that the Big Bossman is a good heel. I mean, look at that match with DDP. DDP came in a heel and went out a face, and it wasn't really due to anything DDP did. THAT'S a good heel.

I have no problem with Billy Gunn, I don't hate guy as a wrestler, never have. I have no problem with the push he is getting now, or any push he has ever gotten. They could do a whole lot worse than Billy Gunn.

Probably. The thing that pissed me off about "The One" Billy Gunn is that it was pushed down our throats. Go take a look at the Survivor Seris 2000 tape (which I believe was his first PPV under the monkier) and both JR and The King are all "And here comes The One Billy Gunn...you know he's The One!" "And The One Billy Gunn si tagged in He's the One!....He's The One JR!" "The One he is" and so on. The One what? "The One" would have been a gret aheel gimmick, being a cocky SOB and all but as a face is just fell flat. (That and the paired him up with Chyna.)

I always assumed 'The One' meant 'the one for Chyna.'

Oh, and to clarify, I only like Rockabilly, and not any Gunn gimmick before or since.

I saw let it all hang out at Mania... Rock/Goldberg Hogan/Vince Austin/HHH Brock/Angle and then you still have Benoit, Booker, Undertaker, Steiner, Edge, Kane, and RVD. It would be one HELL of a Wrestlemania if they book it right.
