Seriously, does ANYONE really care if RAW is down .2 points from last week or if Smackdown is up .1 from a year ago? Its uni, mportant, useless, and just adds boring "analysis" from writers who act like its a huge deal that the ratings slipped during the Vince McMahon segments or something silly like that.

Am I missing some big important element here? Cause if I am, please tell me why I should give a damn about TV ratings.

I miss the GWF.

No, you pretty much nailed it.

It used to mean something back in the day when RAW and Nitro were competing, but now it's just used to justify bitching about people like Vince, Triple H, Undertaker, etc. being on tv "See! I said Vince sucked and the rating went from 4.1 to 4.0 during that segment! One fan out there agreed with me!!!" The worst part is that the margin of error for the Nielson Ratings is about what RAW goes up and down by each week.

Gentlemen, perhaps people like to know what the ratings are.

I think if people turn the show off at certain points it's a pretty decent indicator of whether or not they're interested. I'm not saying you should care, but I don't get why this offends you. They're just reporting relevant information.

Also, if the company goes in a different direction (e.g. putting the World Title on someone other than HHH) and the ratings go up, the WWE is more apt to stay the course. If the ratings diminish, they'll abandon the push, and consider the wrestler not a good draw. An undermanned Smackdown is getting better ratings than RAW, which provides a good indicator of Eddie being at least as good of a champion as Brock or Eddie. Guys like John Cena, Chavo Guerrero, and Rey Misterio are being made the focus of the show, with Vince not to be seen, and the viewers aren't turning away in droves. This gives us EVIDENCE (albeit weak) that the current direction is good for business, thus helping to rebut the argument that "WWE is about MAKING MONEY, not about pleasing the smarks."

... or, if you're like 1wrestling.com is, you need to spell out every weekly 0.00002 percent drop in the Raw rating (which I'm sure had nothing to do with that football game or special on Fox) to illustrate how WWE is doomed and Vince McMahon is a moron.

Who was Hal Kogan supposed to fight at Wrestle Mania III? If you said Andrew The Giant, boy, are you stupid!!! Get informed about this and other 'Mania half-truths in the latest Inside The Ropes!!!

If you don't give a damn about the TV ratings, you don't have to click the links on the sites that say RAW Rating or SD Rating.

Well, Austin Powers was referencing The Prisoner, most likely. GZ might be doing a Star Trek reference as well.
