It has come to my attention that whenever a WWE Diva makes an alliance, even if it's temporary, that they always get paired with some big fat buffoon (Trish & Bubba Ray Dudley), a dork (Trish & Hurricane, Trish & Spike Dudley, Torrie & Tajiri), or an old man (Trish & Vince, Stacy & Vince, Dawn Marie & Al Wilson). Why is that? Do these divas have bad taste in men or something?
I'm guessing that they want to make seem to the average WWE fan, who for the most part fit into the first two catagories, like you can actually them. Like when Trish teams with Bubba Ray, every fat male in the audience or sitting at home envisions, "hey that could be me and Trish", or when Torrie teamed Tajiri, "hey that could me instead of Tajiri". Or when Dawn paired with Al Wilson, "hey if Dawn wants some really old man, maybe then I'd have a shot with her".... and so forth and so on. This is hard for me to put into words, but hopefully you catch my drift.
I guess if they had Trish make out with a supermodel each and every single edition WWE Raw or Dawn Marie with a supermodel on Smackdown, then it would detract the diva's fanbase, which means less money and less popularity for the diva, which is why it doesn't happen, even though outside the ring, that's more than likely the reality of the situation. Also, it seems to me that Trish is incredibly secretive of her relationship, if their is one that is, and rumors keep persisting that their is. I'm guessing that if she went out on Raw and semi-shooted "I'M GETTING MARRIED!!!", that would piss off/break hearts of her fanbase, which is why she'll never do it, unless she were to turn heel that is.
Just my two cents on this subject, and on a final note in regards to Stacy and Test, if they don't overdo it, which they really haven't. ie making out, sexual scenes.... then the fans will still accept Stacy. Besides, without Test, Stacy hardly gets on tv, and without Stacy, Test is languishing on Heat.
Yeah that's true as well, giving a rub (not literally) to those midcarders in need of one, guys such as Test or Spike Dudley. I think my theory is true as well though. You don't want to piss of the 13 year old boys of the audience by saying your in a relationship, which is why it's kept under wraps.
I think they overestimate the influence of these women. When's the last time a guy got over because of his valet? Tori Wilson didn't seem to be any great boost for Tajiri and T&A didn't do anything even with Trish. Stacey and Nidia may be the best examples.
Kudos for the great subject line.

The thing is, if you pair a hot chick with a midcarder to help HIM get over, it's doomed to fail. Test might get pops when he comes out, but it's because the fans want to see Stacy, not him.
Well Mr. Burns had done it. The power plant had won it. With Rogers Clemens clucking all the while. Mike Scioscia's tragic illness made us smile. While Wade Boggs lay unconscious on the barroom tile. We're talkin'... Softball. From Maine to San Diego. Talkin'... Softball. Mattingly and Canseco. Ken Griffey's grotesquely swollen jaw. Steve Sax and his run-in with the law. We're talkin' Homer... Ozzie and the Straw.

Tajiri was a lot more over before Torrie Wilson. Just having him around turned Regal into a face.
I have a special friend. He's the baby Jesus and I love him and...and...he don't give me no s**t and he don't f**k around and he's just the f**king coolest guy and I wanna say I love the baby Jesus.I can't say enough.I love the baby Jesus and I think...he's the best thing and he's really great when he shares his love for everbody. You know what I mean?I can't even see a manger without thinkin' about him,eh?I just love the Jesus.I've only been into him for a couple of hours though, but I'm really into him. --Bruce McCulloch
I think sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, depending if they click or have chemistry with each other. But if you put a girl with a total block of a wrestler, he might just be so hopeless that not even Paul Heyman focusing on as him as his "client" can get him over.
Sometimes it works
Storm w/ Dawn- I don't think neither had the success level since they split off. They played off each other really well. I've seen the odd couple tag team before. But seeing them as opposite personalities playing off each other I thought they helped each other
HHH w/ Chyna- Agree with person who mentioned it, Chyna saved his career, he was from just another mid-card and once he hooked up with her she made him somewhat unique and noticeable... HHH w/ Stephanie- One again HHH gets over on the back of a woman. HE went from upper mid-carder to the main heel with Stephanie. I'm thinking now how important Steph was for this guy, since his on air break up with her, HHH hasn't come close to the consistent real heel heat that he got when he had Stephanie by his side, even with a legend like Flair kissing his ass at every opportunity. Can this guy ever just get over on his own? *Remembers failed face turn a year ago* Oh yeah no.
Trish made T&A atleast watchable, which I don't know if either Test or Albert (especially Albert) has been any better since. Plus Bubba's most interesting post Dudley's split was working with Trish.
Lita & Hardy's really worked great for each other and a good example of getting both attention. Even though it could be argued how good it is for the Hardy's when people chant Lita (to cheat) while she's just standing outside and Jeff & Matt are actually doing the wrestling. But either way they were more over with eachother then before, problem was they got incredibly stale over 2 years and didn't bother evolving at all until Lita got injured and the greatness that is Mattitude was born.
Cerebus I actually liked Kane with one-name Tori. The whole X-pac/Kane/Tori triangle is one of the few things I liked about X-pac, until Tori went with X-pac and the story fell apart. I liked the little play on Sable when Tori would go around and scream sexual harassment over ever little thing (especially Jericho's insensitive remarks) and Kane felt pressured to go out and defend her honor.
Was mentioned Three times, 3X, 3X. In the "Great Wieners" thread!
The only two big time main eventers in recent memory I recall having women with them were Savage and Austin and they were married to their valets.
How about Triple H with Stephanie McMahon a couple years ago?
To throw in a few others:
Baby Doll was valeting for Dusty Rhodes when he won NWA Title #3 back in '86 (and if we're counting Chyna as a woman, then Baby Doll counts as well). And, when Flair defeated Savage for the WCW Title in '96, he had Woman as a valet, plus he added Elizabeth shortly thereafter.
I'll pay $49.95 for the Execute Bin Laden PPV. And I'll buy one of the lottery tickets at 10 bucks a pop to be the executioner.

Helmsley is NOT a woman, that's for sure. Now when Chyna had the Cat running around with him, THAT would be a better example... except Chyna's career flushed anyway.

Chyna at that time wasn't doing anything IMPORTANT. Trust me, the truly great just doesn't just let their career just flush away. They fight that flushing urge by doing as much meaningful stuff that they can (without getting fired). Chyna obviously didn't do that. That Guererro thing proves my point.
Because I was curious what the requirements are in light of John Cena's selection, wikipedia says: Cena is now 35 years old and debuted in WWE in 2002. Someone has already updated the page about the 2012 inductees, and they say:
