Well, look at it this way, this dude (The Rock) was the only one who could have done it and gotten more cheers than boos. Period. That promo was the defining moment in his career and the future of the company. Also, tonight was yet another start of starts for the WWE. Great show. Great show. Kudo's to Eddie, kudo's to Booker and last but not least Brock Lesnar you can go to hell! I dont' wanna' see that overpushed peice of turd dsmantle Hardcore Holly. There ain't but one toughest man in the WWE and his name AIN'T Brock Lesnar.

Lesnar's a Losner! Lesnar's a Losner! Let's all hope Jericho wins, so I can go home from King of the Ring happy. Or RVD. Or (crosses his fingers and says hailmary's) Hardcore Bob Holly. Let's all give hima round of applause folks. Thank you and long live the King!

I gotta tell you - I haven't even really liked the Rock since the Rock N Sock Connection, and I marked out like a sonofabitch for that promo...

Austin who?

Wow!

So, apperantly I was wrong about the Austin thing. I just wished it wasn't true, but it is. Damn him.

Now back to Rock being Superman again. I loved Rock's promo and I was hoping someone would take his advice *cough* Kevin Nash *cough*. I don't what Rock got for coming back early or if he just came back when he heard what happend. All I know is this: If anyone says anything bad about Rock again, I will personally flame their ass. Eveyone got that, good.

I think even someone like CRZ who doesn't seem to like Rock very much would have had to mark out for that. It kicked ass.

Well they just killified Austin all sorts of dead there didn't they. That was so much the old ECW arena I almost started chanting "Fuck Sabu" before I thought about it
Seriously though, the Rock may have just stepped up and delivered the most important promo in wrestling history. Soon enough the people will forget Austin, just like they have everyone else, but until then there is something to lean on in the promo and idea Rock put out there. In a way, it's almost like the passing of the torch, as Austin is gone, Rock is going Hollywood basically, so now a new group must step up and take their company and carry it onward.

And yup, the man to do it is the master of the Spin-a-roonie. The king of the drive-by "SUCKA!". Let's see Booker T, WWE Champion before 2002 closes.

Anyone remember the joy of seeing him bash the Undertaker's motorcycle with his sledgemhammer and doing no damage and being all like, "Mjolnir will not break thine cycle? I say thee NAY!" and dumping it off the stage. - Enojado Viento says the funniest thing I've ever read on Wienerville.

You know what had me thinking Goldberg? When Vince started gathering the camera crew, and telling them to document "Austin's" arrival at the arena, and every step he makes after that. I was thinking that was an excuse to give Goldberg the Goldberg entrance treatment.

I wonder if that was intentional, or if I was reading too much into things. At any rate, it did swerve me off The Rock, which was pretty good, since The Rock was actually the most obvious choice.

I was ready to come here and think I was funny by saying "Ooooh. Rock said 'we'. That's like saying 'I' only plural!" Then he goes and gets all emotional and personal on us. Sigh.

That said, this promo could go a looong way to making fans forget about Austin.

I dont think that the WWE hirearchy can ignore T, he's gotta be The Man, only slightly in the shadow of Rocky, who is THE MAN.

Apparently they can ignore him enough to give a title shot at the PPV after next to someone else. Now I have to hope that RVD wins somehow.

The Rock is bigger than Jesus.

What a great show: Rock's best promo since his post KOTR '99 imitation of Billy Gunn; Booker as a face; nWo as true heels; Benoit and Guerrero...

Here's to moving on WITHOUT Austin.

I really like the rock, but frankly i was expecting goldberg and was really disappointed when rocky came out.

Yeah, it was a good promo, but here's rock talking about his loyalty - meanwhile he's trying to launch a film career instead of being 'home' as he put it. He's only going to be around a few months before he goes off to film again, anyway. So yeah it's a boost to the rock and an attempt to rally the fans, but it'll ring hollow soon enough when rocky's away in 2 months and we're watching HHH and undertaker slug it out for the 1000th time.

I think that promo actually showed Rock's loyalty more than the fact that he's not going to be in the ring that much anymore.

Think about it -- did he really have to come back? He's got his name inked on two different movies, his life is moving forward, it's a huge risk for him to be in the ring because he could lose ALL of it with one bad injury that keeps him on the shelf and off the cameras. So, with all of that in front of him and all that risk, why did he come back?

Because the company needed him. And the Fed honestly needs him more than he needs them at this point.

From WrestlingObserver:

Rock's role at King of the Ring at this point is planned to be awarding the trophy to the winner, and likely doing an angle after that.

Based on the Lesnar/Rock activities after RAW went off the air (Rock gave Lesnar a Rock Bottom and Heyman a people's elbow in the standard post-show WWF treatment), perhaps a Lesnar/Rock feud is on the horizon?

Mean Gene: "You know, I don't think it's a question - Goldberg, I don't think it's a question of who's next, I think it's a question of who's left?"
Goldberg: "No, see, that's where you're wrong. It ain't who's left, it's - WHO'S NEXT?"

it just seems like an utter cop out going to someone who will work only a hanful of dates. they have a bevy of talent and i'm sure vince could afford to spurge a little for Goldberg. Sure it was a nice promo but whats Rocky going to do. between every month vacation give the exact same promo?
