I think they should have waited to do the Tajiri match instead of giving it away with no hype one week into Eddie's reign. It wouldn't have been a big money match by any stretch, but the "face returns to face partner who turned" match should have been given more than it was. Who Eddie feuds with depends on whether they're going to play him as a face or a heel. If he's a heel, I'd have Rhyno continue to dodge Benoit while Benoit works a quick rematch program with Eddie. If Eddie is to be a face, which he has to be, the first program should be with Matt Hardy.
I have no problem with Tajiri and Eddie being so quick because I don't buy Eddie vs. Tajiri as big enough match for a Summerslam ppv. What they did too quickly was move Benoit onto Rhyno. The best matchup for a Summerslam ppv would be a Eddie vs. Benoit rematch. And the other choices Matt and Cena look like they will feud with Zac and Undertaker so I don't know if there is any opponent for Eddie that is good enough for a Summerslam type event. Maybe he should just do a sitdown heel interview like The Rock did on a ppv once.
I guess they could always start up Eddie vs. O'Haire. Or if they were really serious about pushing Eddie they could feud him with Big Show. Eddie could be the sneaky guy who outsmarts the much larger but dumb guy.
there really is no direction that seems obvious for Eddy at Summerslam. the 3 way with Benoit & Rhyno would be a good choice. I guess this weeks Smackdown should set up a lot. Lesnar vs Mcmahon in the cage should turn Lesnar heel, Cena vs Undertaker should either end their feud or set up another rematch at Summerslam and we should find out whats going to happen with the US title challenger. Could be a fun show.
This is really the perfect example of the difference of Taking a lose and putting someone over. Which we discussed here in the past when someone breaks out so and so does JOBS look at this date he got pinned.
