With the Indy 500 every year and the Final Four like every four years or so, we are more than capable of handling it.
Are you complaining about WrestleMania 8? Geez, Piper/Hart, Flair/Savage, that show rocked man. I would have killed to have that at Selland Arena.

| #25 Posted on 26.6.02 1441.02 | Well jeez...I know Texas is big, but shouldn't the WWE do it in a different state than they did just the year before last? In fact, with the intense weakness of the business, I don't think North America is a good place to hold it at all. Why not just go to England or India or wherever the hell they were just doing awesome numbers? If they want the full arena, and the right to brag about being the WORLD wrestling entertainment---federation...ha, then they might want to go overseas for the guaranteed sellout. The tome zone issue, of course, is a valid one but it could be worked out. I think why they went to T.O., was that it was was a guaranteed sellout. Texas, with no Austin drawing card, is a far cry from a guarantee. I think if they really push Booker, they can sell out the Georgia Dome, since Hotlanta is Book's old stomping grounds and he lives (lived?) there. But other than that...Overseas baby!

Hey, if they did WM in Trump Plaza for 2 years in a row (WM 4 and 5), why not one in Texas for the 2nd time in 3 years? Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing a WM at the Alamodome in San Antonio, even though I know it's not going to happen anytime soon. But let's just say the unlikely does happen. The way business is going, would the Alamodome be considered too big for WWE events by the time next spring rolls around? Would they have to curtain off half the arena like they do for Spurs games?

| #29 Posted on 27.6.02 0033.33 | I seriously doubt WM19 will be in the Tropicana Dome (and what a shitty looking building that appears to be on TV). Last year, JR said they were all set to have it there, but after surveying the grounds, they realized it would be a half-mile walk from the locker room to the ring. Unless the building shrunk in the last year, I don't see anything changing.
I'd be all for a WrestleMania in Indianapolis. Assuming they have it in a big dome, Indy would be my best bet for driving to WM from Cleveland.
They used to work shows at the Georgia Dome before they got the rights to use Phillips Arena. It would be interesting to see if they go back there to the Dome. Honestly, though, since Atlanta just had the Royal Rumble this year (and I don't think that sold out), getting WM next year seems unlikely. | drjayphd

Hey, you're bitching about that? Hartford's only gotten WM11 and an early Survivor Series, as far as PPV's go. I know WWE's only in the state for tax purposes, but dammit, we show up for the live events! | Ffej

Along the lines of the backyard, it would be cool if the WWE ran a contest where you could win a show in your backyard or hometown. Kinda like all the music channels do from time to time. It could do well for public relations.

| #33 Posted on 27.6.02 1528.57 | It would certainly be interesting to have it abroad. Isn't Vince supposed to not want to do that cos of the time difference though? If it were in Europe in the evening, in the States it would have to either be broadcast in the afternoon or shown on a tape delay, both of which would probably hit buyrates.
On the other hand, it would make them look like WORLD wrestling entertainment. They would probably do bigger gate figures as well. Venues?
Britain is probably the most likely. The business is still huge here, and Insurrextion always sells out in like under 15 mins although thats for Earls Court which is somewhere between 10 and 15k seats. We don't have any big enough indoor arenas really, other than Cardiff's Millennium Stadium, which at 80,000 + pitch is probably too big to sell out. They'd get people from all over Europe though, so they *might* have a chance. I think Raw normally gets about 400k viwers, so that would be about 1/4 Raw viewers in Britain going. They could put it in a soccer stadium, but going outdoors in March in GB is always a risk.
Maybe somewhere like the Amsterdam ArenA?? About 50k, quite central in Europe, retractable roof, impressive looking new stadium, and I expect much of the WWE demographic would enjoy taking in a weekend in Amsterdam to see WM!! Germany's got a lot of good arenas I think as well, though I don't know much about them.
The Far East or India would be quite a risk as they've not done many shows there, but they seem to have a huge fanbase out there so it could be a money spinner.
If they have to stay in America I'd go for the Alamodome. Good size but not too big that they may not sell out, havent had a PPV in years despite getting a huge crowd for RR97 (when the business was smaller than it is today) and if they make it HBK's ring return they could probably count on a large and loud crowd!
And MSG for XX

Heh..at Axxess this year RVD told us he would see us in Amsterdam *grin* So who knows
Damn how sweet would that be, Wrestlemania just one hour away from my home instead of the 8-10 hour flights we did over the past two years.
Serious though. I think they can still fill a dome now and next year. MSG for 20..thats gonna be small though! But they would have to do it as part of tradition.. How about Yankee/Shea/whatever NY based Stadium?
