The WWE has struck gold again with the current feud between CM Punk and Jeff Hardy. CM Punk in my opinion has turned out quite well as a heel and shows more character. Unfortunately, Jeff Hardy will be taking a leave of absence after SummerSlam. Will CM Punk still remain a good heel without a feud with Hardy? Or what will he do when CM Punk leaves?
Thoughts and Analysis:
Now that Punk is a good heel, I think he is capable of holding his own without arguably the top face in the company (Jeff Hardy). However, since Punk now seems that he likes to point out other peoples' flaws, I think MVP would be a better fit on Smackdown! and feud with Punk. MVP, as everybody knows, hasn't had the most glamourous past (and I give a lot of credit to MVP for using that as a strength to help him and others who are facing similar situations).
But now since Punk is a heel and I don't know when MVP will be heel again, I think it would make an interesting feud. Granted when Hardy leaves, Punk and Morrison will be the likely feud as they have had good matches in the past and good brief rivalry back when they were both on ECW.

I didn't get a chance to see last night's Smackdown, but read the spoilers. Were they trying to set up Matt Hardy as a face? If so, perhaps the next feud will be with Matt as he tries to avenge his brother?
His opening promo last night was gold. It made me wish he could match up with an in his prime Stone Cold, Eddie Guerrero or a 10-15 year ago Flair.
The thing that makes his feud with Hardy so good, is that it can swing either way at any moment. There's no HHH or Cena to dominate the feud. HBK would make an interesting matchup, RVD would have been good .... CM Punk kind of came around at the wrong time now that I think about it.
A feud could be created around virtually any wrestler that has known wellness policy violations. Punk's "Holier than Thou" gimmick could work on so many levels.
Current - Insert Matt, I'm not sure if there is anything known about Matt being a user in his past. However Punk could easily move the feud by blasting Matt for not being the best role model that anybody could ever have. A big brother.
"Because of you Matt, Jeff did this... If you were there for Jeff when he needed you..... In the past 3 months I've done more for Jeff than you have your entire life. You are an enabler...." etc.
If inserting Matt into a feud with Punk is done right, it may very well catapult Matt over that hump that he seems to not be able to get over. Matt proved that he could cut promos with the right storyline. Some of his best work was earlier this year when he turned on Jeff (minus the music of course). Give him a storyline that puts him in a shoot style promo, I think that he just might pull it off.
The problem with Matt is that he kind of sucks. He's basically been playing the role of Owen Hart and has been doing a lousy job of capturing any of the magic. I want to like Matt and have liked him in the past, but he's just been really uninspiring lately. I don't know if a new look would help, it really couldn't hurt.

My thoughts and opinions are that I can't see what the big deal is with CM Punk. He bores me and I want him out of my wrestling viewing life. Straight Edge... what a crock. That shit wasn't 'cool' even when it WAS cool 15 years with the kids who were not old enough to drink in the first place. As soon as they were able to, they started slamming drinks down like the rest of us.
Jeff Hardy is just a meth head who does the same moves in every match and also bores me to death. He's a glorified tag team wrestler who shouldn't be in singles matches much but the kids (I.E.: 14 year old girls) all love him cause he's kinda cute so they have to push him for the female base audience to sell t-Shirts.
I do not watch Smackdown because of them and I will be more then happy to start watching it again when they put the belt on someone better and make me want to watch the show again. As it stands, I don't care, and judging by the weekly ratings, neither do most viewers.

Smackdown is a good show! You should watch it. They have other people besides Punk and Hardy on in most segments!

Actually, their ratings have been steadily rising during July and they were back to a 2.0 last week. It'll be interesting to see if they are up again for Friday's show.

It is unsure what Matt Hardy's status is right now in terms of a face or still a heel. He seemed quite cold (emotion-wise)even after he cost CM Punk the match in which CM Punk accidentally slid into Matt Hardy. I do not see Hardy as a face because a lot of people remember the feud between the Hardys and it probably would not make sense to just make him face just because of some mishap. It will be interesting though to see where and what the WWE does with Matt Hardy.

He is a heel.

He could claim that Mysterio was an enabler to Eddie for all of those years, etc.
