I don't know if I'd say he needs to retire. Only because in essence he already WAS retired for a few years from MMA, so really he needs to go back into retirement.
Also, early guys of MMA - take Ken Shamrock as an example of what NOT to do to retain your legacy. If your glory days were during or shortly before the late nineties, it's guaranteed that the sport has evolved to the point where it's passed you by.
