Hey I'm new here and I've heard of this place only in legend. I never dreamed it actually existed....

Anyway I was hoping somebody could help answer a question for me. It's about the devastating move known as the musclebuster. The MB has become quite a popular move these days, especially in japan.

The first time I saw a move similar to the MB was a crappy move performed Damion in WCW in the late 90s,but the first time I saw a Muscle Buster was on the Japanese cartoon "Ultimate Muscle" which was called the Kimmiku buster and was the most devastating finisher in the Galaxy!

So did some Japanese Pro Wrestler create the muscle Buster or did it originate from the cartoon Ultimate muscle? I tried googling and came off with crap.

here's 2 pictures of the move(one of Somoa Joe,the other of Kid Muscle)

On a side note:Do you think the popularity of the muscle buster in U.S. indys could be because of the Ultimate Muscle cartoon?

I found a site that also calls it an Elevated Cradle Neckbreaker.

Elevated Cradle Neckbreaker

Also called a muscle buster. The wrestler holds his/her opponent upside-down with the back of the victim's neck against his/her shoulder and with one or both legs hooked, and drops to a kneeling or sitting position so that the victim's neck hits against the shoulder. It is usually performed against a victim who is sitting on the top turnbuckle and facing away from the attacker. This is more properly a double leg version of a fisherman's brainbuster

indy star Samoa Joe, uses this maneuver.

They say Kid Kash's Bankruptcy is an Elevated Cradle Neckbreaker.

Only other reference I can find to it is that it is apparently a move in the Tekken series of fighting games.

The Big, Big Book of Wrestling Moves (deathvalleydriver.com) has this entry (which was probably cribbed by whatever site Mr. Boffo is quoting without attribution):

    Neck Breaker, Elevated Cradle
Used by : Damian, Yone Genjin, Mike Enos, Daisuke Ikeda
    AKA : Muscle Buster
Description : The victim is sitting on the top turnbuckle. The attacker grabs the victim and bends them down so the back of the victim's neck is resting on the attacker's shoulder. The attacker hooks one or both of the victim's legs them with their arms. The attacker stands up so the victim is suspended upside down with the the attacker holding their legs. The attacker drops to their knees, impacting the victim's neck on the attacker's shoulder.

I hosted this clip of Yone Genjin performing the move for ... somebody. I'd have to go back and check the email. I put it up July 2001 but I'm sure it's older than that, so if I read correctly, the move predates the cartoon (surely, Mike Enos or Damien doing it much earlier would validate this theory). I guarantee that you will not have the correct codec to view this, so please don't follow up with a post about how you can't view it because I already know. I only include it for historical reasons, and the off chance that you're actually able to find the codec on your own:

Batista used this against Benoit on RAW a few months back. Think it was the match where Batista escaped the Crossface by picking up Benoit and banging his head into an exposed turnbuckle.

I had only seen the move before that in the RAW vs SD videogame. It's called a Mexican Stretch Buster there.

I recall Damien 666 using it on a Nitro once in the late 90's, but I'm sure its older than that.

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

The guarantee is no good here, and if anyone wants to watch it, "DivX 3 Fast-Motion" seems to be the one to search for, although according to gspot it looks like a few DivX codecs will play it.

Thanks for hosting it. It's always weird seeing moves that if anyone in the WWE tried them, could only result in serious injury or death each time. From watching the WWF's 'punch-kick' main events from age 10 on, I grew up believing that the Perfect-Plex was a crippling move.
