I also thought San Diego of course but since it was a short trip and they are in VA, thought that Lauderdale was what fit the bill the most, and it looks like it did. Have tons of fun in your trip and don't worry bout the hurricanes, this year if anything, extended vacations! Try to hit the Seminole Hard Rock Casino, FUN place with all the new shopping and eateries they open last year. Anything else please fell free to IM me.
Puerto Rico...fighting for 3rd place on the World Baseball Classic!
My parents head down to South Padre Island around Labor Day each year and the few times that I went with them, it was extraordinarily relaxing. No college punks tearing up the place and the beach and water is just amazing. Plus, you can head south a short ways to Matamoros, Mexico for some cheap shopping and great food. All the locals were extremely friendly, too.
WHen I get away, I try to get AWAY...so try somewhere in Alaska!

I think back to when I was 18, and to where i am now (ten years later) and I realize that yes, things are better: I have a bigger place, a better job, and I live in a nicer city. Of course, it's been one hell of a ride from 1996 and 2006...
