So, I've noticed over the last few nights on SportsCenter, they've been doing some silly Taboo-style game with "notable" sports personalities competing against ESPN personalities. HearSay, I think it's called? Anyway, does anyone know if this a permanent feature or just filler during the sports "dead zone"?
Between this, the Budweiser Hot Seat, Chris Connelly, and Bill Walton's Strange Trip, they're really putting the "E" in ESPN. If they come out with ESPN Records, I'm switching to Fox Sports.

Steph is big, but so is Dom DeLuise. And really, who doesn't enjoy "Fatso" now and again?

Probably just temporary. Whoever wins gets the $$$ donated to their charity, so it's not a total waste of time.

Oh man - Sheryl Swoopes certainly did not do the WNBA proud. And they teamed her with Stuart Scott to make it even worse.

I am trying to pinpoint when exactly I started hating Sportscenter.

I haven't watched SportsCenter in ages. My dish package contains ESPNEWS and that's the show I watch for highlights/scores, etc. If you don't currently receive ESPNEWS, I can't recommend it highly enough. Not that my recommendation would change what your cable/satellite provider makes available.

Saw the torture of those two together. Liked how the clues given were usually: White. If it was a white athlete who used Black for every clue, the cry of racism would spring forth.

I gave up watching Sportscenter a long time ago.

IF you can say a "news" program jumped the shark, it was when Olbermann left.

Heck, I barely watch ESPN period now. On average, I watch exactly 2 1/2 hours a week (and it should be no surprise to regulars here what that is).

I'm content to get my news and scores from espn.com or from updates on the radio.

I don't really WATCH sportscenter on, sometimes I will just have it on in the background because there is nothing on, but when I actually want to do something I don't depend on Sportscenter to tell me because usually what i want to know about will get about 10 seconds airtime. That and I'm tired of listening to the "top story" everyday because it's basically just a Lebron James diary.

I do however use their webpage for scores and stats and also I like Page 2. But I hate how they try and make you pay for the ESPN Insider for certain things like the NFL Draft coverage. I mean I thought these guys were supposed to be news reporters, since when do we have to pay money to hear them?

I think theyre trying this crap in order to keep with FOX sports in appealing to the lowest common denominator. Theyre turning thiere backs on die hard sports fans in order to appeal to a broader audience. The same principle is behind WCW and WWE bringing in lame-ass musical acts and other froms of entertainment to thier shows.

Riiiight. I hate watching the 1.5 minutes of the show every day I tape right before PTI. If Bob Ryan and Charlie Pierce weren't on the show, there'd ne NO redeeming qualities to it.

Eh, I'll still watch, if only because ESPNews seemingly only does updates every three weeks or so. Although at least I learned something today: Marcellus Wiley? Pretty smart guy.

Funny -- even with some shitty readers, 2Minute Drill was enjoyable, and it showed that Kenny Mayne could host. So what if it was a take off on BBC's Mastermind? At least Mastermind doesn't suck like Taboo does.

Now this drivel.

Oh -- and if anyone's a game show fan at ESPN -- it's Rich Eisen, supposedly. *Huge* game show fan, I've heard.

odessasteps - What's you're impression of Steve Czaban? We get him for a 20 minute segment on local radio in Milwaukee, and he's entertaining then. Can he and Andy Polley Andy Polley Andy Polley put together a good show?

As I've mentioned before, Terry Boers and Dan Bernstein are GODS~! Not everyone will agree with me on that, but there's no better place for Ritalin, diddlin' and country fiddlin'.

The rest of WSCR's dayparts are questionable.

I unfortunately caught one of these "trivia-games" this morning before heading out and immediately tossed my remote at my TV. I actually hate Stuart Scott and wish ill will upon him. It's reasons like this that I only watch SportsCenter during football season.

    I'm not odessa steps. However...

I think he's pretty good overall, although I find him to be a little hit or miss. We get his syndicated Fox Sports radio show in Dallas. Unlike the largely worthless local sports talk radio station (and I use the word 'sports' in sports talk very loosely), he actually talks sports most of the time so he's better than most of what we have. And, his time wasting filler largely consists of talking about how to gamble on sports or on how he gambles on different sports.
