I was shooting the breeze with a friend of mine, when the subject became heated; who was the best Star Wars character? I know it's a personal preference thing, and we left on that note since we wouldn't agree, but I was wondering what the W's favorite Star Wars character was?

For the record, I was in the corner of Obi-Wan Kenobi while my friend was in favor of Han Solo.

Pre-Special Edition Han Solo. The guy who shot first, the badass who, when told by a woman that she loves him, responds "I know."

Original trilogy Obi-Wan was pretty cool too, but he came off as ineffectual in the prequels.

Palpatine.

It is the policy of the documentary crew to remain true observers and not interfere with its subjects.

Han Solo.

He just seemed so cool. Maybe Mark Hamill's golly-gee dorkiness made him seem all the more so.

Although Obi-Wan is a close second.

I would say Darth Vader, but the prequels kinda ruined him for me.

Wedge Antilles, leader of the Rogue Squadron. The only man to survive not one, but BOTH Death Star runs (with no Force powers to assist either).

Grand Moff Tarkin, he was probably the biggest loss for the Empire the war could have ended very differently if he hadn't been blown up in the Death Star.

Porkins. I wonder if he got the part and they named his character that because he was fat, or if they picked him after they made up the name.

I'm curious about your choice here. It seems to me he was a great deal incompetent. This guy's main job is to locate and capture/kill rebels. He gets one, and for some reason allows officers to pick and choose what to shoot down that comes out of their starcruiser or whatever. Next, he tortures the Princess and then burns his bargaining chip BEFORE EVEN VERIFYING THE VALIDITY OF THE INTEL. C'Mon, even a lowly senator in a defunct system had the balls to lie to you. Then he stubbornly refuses to admit his mistake of using a flawed weapon/vehicle and doesn't evacuate the humans and aliens on board. All the time he does these things he allows Vadar to run amok as a loose cannon Jack Bauer style and does nothing about despite the fact that you knoooooooow that Vader would've just made him the scapegoat HE HAD LIVED. I wouldn't trust Moff Tarkin to run a Jamba Juice, let alone the biggest threat in the galaxy.

Now, I'm only going based off the movies, and not the expanded universe, so I don't know if I'm off base on that thinking.

I have a registered Will but that currently is still bequeathing everything to my ex wife, so I probably should fix that at some stage. (Unless I rack up huge debts first, heh heh).
