| #1 Posted on 31.10.08 0258.08 | Instant Rating: 3.35 | I was shooting the breeze with a friend of mine, when the subject became heated; who was the best Star Wars character? I know it's a personal preference thing, and we left on that note since we wouldn't agree, but I was wondering what the W's favorite Star Wars character was?
For the record, I was in the corner of Obi-Wan Kenobi while my friend was in favor of Han Solo.

Original trilogy Obi-Wan was pretty cool too, but he came off as ineffectual in the prequels. | hansen9j

I'm curious about your choice here. It seems to me he was a great deal incompetent. This guy's main job is to locate and capture/kill rebels. He gets one, and for some reason allows officers to pick and choose what to shoot down that comes out of their starcruiser or whatever. Next, he tortures the Princess and then burns his bargaining chip BEFORE EVEN VERIFYING THE VALIDITY OF THE INTEL. C'Mon, even a lowly senator in a defunct system had the balls to lie to you. Then he stubbornly refuses to admit his mistake of using a flawed weapon/vehicle and doesn't evacuate the humans and aliens on board. All the time he does these things he allows Vadar to run amok as a loose cannon Jack Bauer style and does nothing about despite the fact that you knoooooooow that Vader would've just made him the scapegoat HE HAD LIVED. I wouldn't trust Moff Tarkin to run a Jamba Juice, let alone the biggest threat in the galaxy.
Now, I'm only going based off the movies, and not the expanded universe, so I don't know if I'm off base on that thinking. |
