After the big Nirvana/Ric Astley video started going around, I was looking into some other mashups. I really, REALLY thought this one was great.

Blondie and the Doors.

There's one of Wonderwall by Oasis and Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day that I heard a few years ago.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHYpM_M4--I

If it's not restricted to two popular songs being mashed up, then the NIN/Mario one has got to be my favorite.

I just heard the Rick Astley/Nirvana one for the first time yesterday.
I LOVE these mash-ups. Really creative. I would buy whole CDs of them if they were, you know, legal and for sale in stores.

I like the Kylie Minogue/New Order mash "Can't Get Blue Monday Out of My Head"

That......has no business working as well as it does.

Me, I really like The Chemical Brothers & Survivor:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8oYCvxPopY

and Snow Patrol and The Police:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37odz5ZGR1w&feature=related

On a less serious note, I'm much too amused by Dr Dre and Grease:

Edit: Well, that's about the worst job of linking a man can do. Apologies, I'll just keep it simple now....

No idea where it came from, and I can't find it on YouTube, but there's a mashup of Depeche Mode's "Strangelove" with New Order's "Bizarre Love Triangle" that's awesome.

Still love Girl Talk's (Gregg Gillis) full-length mashup album Feed the Animals. Some of the combos are uncanny:

  • "Woo Hah! Got You All In Check" and "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic"

  • "Work It" and "I Can't Wait"

  • "Renegade" and "Bithes Ain't Shit"

  • "In A Big Country" and "Whoomp! (There It Is)"

  • "Push It", "Groove Is In The Heart", and "Lithium"

  • "Gypsy" and "Wild Thing"

  • "Saturday in the Park" and "C'mon Ride It (The Train)"

  • and ESPECIALLY "Crank Dat (Soulja Boy)" and "Under the Bridge" (it's like these songs were made to go together - it's creepy)

The United State of Pop, both 2007 (djearworm.com) and 2008 (djearworm.com), by DJ Earworm. They are mash-ups of the Top 25 songs on Billboard each year; 2007 is particularly awesome.

Also of note:

"We Got The Beat" + "Soulja Boy" (soop.ca) by A Plus D.
"Never There" by Cake + "Feel Good Inc." by Gorillaz (partyben.com), by Party Ben.
"Icky Thump" + "Whole Lotta Love" (dailymotion.com), by DJ Zebra.

It is the policy of the documentary crew to remain true observers and not interfere with its subjects.

If you wanna reach the Co-op, boy, you gotta get by me.

You wanted the best, you got... Out of Context Quote of the Week.

"But overall, yes Hollywood has finally fallen in love with the wang." (Torchslasher)

Oh, yeah, Girl Talk's good. Haven't listened to Feed the Animals, but Night Ripper's got some great moments, especially the first minute of, erm, "Minute By Minute" (throwing Ying Yang Twins over "Around the Way Girl" and "I Keep Forgettin'"). It's his fault (on "Smash Your Head") I can't hear the beginning of "Oh Bondage, Up Yours" without expecting the guitars from "Sugar, We're Goin' Down". Gee, thanks Gregg. (hmph)

Oh, and as for traditional mashups, "The Ghost That Feeds" (NIN/Ray Parker Jr.)... here it is over the video for "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)" (youtube.com) for no apparent reason.

It may not be a Mashup, but it is a brilliant (over)use of the Autotune.

Somewhere I found a remix of Snap's "Rhythm is a Dancer" with "Whenever, Wherever" by Shakira. I enjoyed it heartily. http://jirob.cjb.net/ might have it.

Read it and weep, fella

How about The Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase's theme + De La Soul's "Thru Ya City"?

Or maybe Bing Crosby's "Let It Snow" + Dr. Dre's "Forgot About Dre"?

I love Go Home Productions. His mashup of "Paperback Writer" (which Paul really rocked at Citi Field, BTW) and "Daydream Believer" has a great video, too.

http://homepage.mac.com/beetulz/iMovieTheater9.html

His real masterpiece, though, is "Silly Love Songs" mashed with Eminem's "Without Me". Really, they should have made it an official remix and pushed it to radio--would've been huge. The video is nothing special, and it's actually different from the original version of the mashup, which doesn't have any McCartney vocals, but it will give you an idea.

I don't know. The mashup is good, but the doofus spinning in the chair could use some work.

Thanks StaggerLee. I went to the site and it worked.

Thanks everyone for sharing. These are quite entertaining.
I've discovered that AC/DC's "Back in Black" can be mashed with just about anything, especially rap.

As Tracy Jordan would say, I love this thread so much, I wanna take it behind the middle school and get it pregnant!

Here's the very funky "Bring the Noise" Ghostbusters-style.
