The "Tea Room" scene in John Woo's Hard Boiled.

Chow Yun-Fat and John Woo full tilt.

The Gunfight scene in Desperado.

The Bank Heist in HEAT was the only thing in the movie worth watching.

The opening of CLIFFHANGER is probably the most intese opening five minutes of a movie ever.

JST almost said it but then Matt Tracker did say it. Ever since Matrix Reloaded, my favorite action scene has been the freeway chase. But damn, I can just put in the dvd, skip to the second act and just watch til Neo meets the Architect, rinse wash repeat.

Also, the black knight getting all his limbs cut off in Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Hellllllllllll yeah. Also:

The big battle scene from Return of the King, especially where Aragorn jumps off the boat.

The scene in Revenge of the Sith when Anakin walks into the room with all the kids and slaughters them. I would say that's the best scene in the new trilogy just for the sheer "Oh, HELL no" factor.

About 17 different scenes from Tombstone.

The storming the beach scene from Saving Private Ryan.

Don't hate on Oh Brother Where Art Thou?

And I always think of Spidey's strength as adrenal/reactive. Fighting the Hulk or hitting the arms level strength he'd cold clock Ock, but he's just hitting the man face to face, not having a car dropped on him.

On topic?

Off the top of my head, I'd have to say the big samurai/militia battle in LAST SAMURAI.

I haven't seen a recommendation for the car chase in To Live and Die in L.A. so I'll mention that one now (with the disclaimer that I haven't seen the one in The French Connection recently)

Sure, you're really remembering Finney in Annie and Scrooge - don't try to fool us.

I only saw Annie because a girl from my Chorus class in high school was in it and I didn't believe her. She was in it alright.

Err, getting back on topic...

HARD BOILED: The entire hospital fight scene.

STAR TREK II - THE WRATH OF KAHN: End ship battle in the cloud/nebula. It reminds you how GOOD Sci-Fi can really be.

BABYLON 5 - Final battle against the Shadows. I can't remember what episode it was, but it is famous with special effects people for having the most space ships on screen at one time. Each one done separatly and doing it's own thing. Quite nice to look at.

THE ONE: The fight scene with Jet LI versus HIMSELF in the boiler room.

KISS OF THE DRAGON: Jet Li (again!), kicking the shit outta the cops training at the police building. In one part of it, he breaks a guys leg, and then uses that guys broken leg to beat another guy up!

...Gosh, I know there's more. HEY, would the scene from Debbie Does Dallas in the shower count? YEAH! Take THAT AWArulz!

The scene Rumble in the Bronx where he beats up the entire gang at their hideout.

Not just for the action - although I still love watching that scene - but more for the "you're all bad people, don't you feel guilty now" monologue afterwards.

The old man's still an artist with the Thompson!

Wrath of Khan had that great "submarine-style warfare in space" thing going on, but I always loved the final sequence in The Undiscovered Country. I think it may just be the Shakespeare quotes and the final torpedo snaking it's way along the trail of the emissions from the cloaked ship.

Also, the chasing-the-truck scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark. Indy being dragged along behind the truck, going over the side, driving into trees, and punching out Nazis until they fall out.

Oh MAN I can't believe I forgot The Warriors! For me it's a toss up between that fight and the one with the Baseball Furies -- although if they had ever gotten around to beating up the mimes, that would win.

I am totally with the car-chases from The Road Warrior and Matrix: Reloaded are classics. Lots to choose from in Terminator 1, 2, and 3 also. The Long Kiss Goodnight has some terrific action sequences also...

,,,my vote goes to the awesome mid-town car chase from The Corruptor...just insane!

There are a couple great ones. The freeway chase from Matrix 2 (Electric Boogaloo) was pretty great, and I'm partial to the scene in Last Samurai where Tom Cruise flips out and slaughters the assassins that come after him. But if I had to pick a favorite, I'd say the swordfight between Buddy and Death from Six-String Samurai takes it. And as far as the Spider-Man/Doc Ock thing, the way I see it is, it's not that Spidey's strength is reactionary or adrenaline based, it's that he's really strong. Strong enough that a full punch against Ock would probably kill him. Spider-Man has to pull his punches, which means that it's pretty hard to hit him just hard enough to knock him out without putting his hand in Ock's brain. Spidey errs on the side of caution.

Blasphemy! Heat is an absolute masterpiece.

Others worth mentioning:

The Matrix: The scene where Neo becomes The One, running towards the stairs and he stops and turns around. "He's beginning to believe."

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The fight between Michelle Yeoh and Ziyi Zhang, where Yeoh uses every weapon in the dojo and cannot overcome the Green Destiny sword. Feel the hate!!!

Predator: The final showdown between Arnie and the Predator. Arnie using all of guile (including the brilliant mud-use) his character has; no other battle in Arnie's career has had the urgency of that one (save the final fight against the T-1000 at the end of T2).

Old Boy: Oh Dae-Su's fight down the hallway to the elevator. A game of Double Dragon brought to life.

Equilibrium: Preston saves the dog in the Nether. "Sounds like it came from your trunk." "Impossible."

The Great Escape: I always think the next time I watch it, Steve McQueen is going to jump that damn fence.

Gladiator: The first battle in the Coliseum. "Whatever comes out of those gates, we have a better chance of survival if we work together." Bonus points for an awesome Hans Zimmer score in this scene.

Oh yeah.....definitely the best scene in the movie.

Duke: [to Rocky] You see? You see? He's not a machine, he's a MAN, he's a MAN!!!
Drago: [to his own trainer] He's not human. He's like a piece of iron.
