Up.
At the conclusion of the sequence that sets up the plot, I was THIS CLOSE to curling up in a ball on the floor and sobbing uncontrollably.
It didn't hit me THAT hard, but it is the first movie in a LONG time to make me tear up. Judging by the sniffles, most of the adults in my theater were tearing up too.
Even though it doesn't look exactly the same, I want a stuffed Kevin now.
The conclusion of that sequence isn't what got me. It's when later in the movie he FINALLY goes past the page that says "future adventures" It was SO awesome to see those pictures. Made me happy & sad at the same time.

Reign Over Me with Adam Sandler and Don Cheadle.
This just may be the saddest movie I ever saw. Your heart will break for Sandler's 9/11 widower. That man is seriously underrated as a dramatic actor (also Funny People, and Punch Drunk Love) | samoflange

I've told countless people about Reign Over Me but nobody ever believes me that it's good.

I just saw Schindler's List for the first time last week. I teared up a little throughout the movie but at the end when the stones were being placed on his grave ... I guess I didn't know exactly what I was seeing and when I realized exactly who they were ... well you know. | Scottyflamingo

Up is a big time tear jerker.
Brian's Song. The speech.
Fox and the Hound. Totally gets me with the theme of friend's growing apart and the innocence of childhood and the bullshit that growing up brings to the table. | dwaters

Between that and the scene in UP, Pixar needs some kind of special achievement Oscar. They are the masters of computer animated storytelling.
Also caught some of The Truman Show on cable this weekend and forgot what an incredibly touching performance Jim Carrey put in there. Great movie. | | Pages: Prev 1 2 3 4 5
