$0.98 increase in about 13 weeks, and this is the discount station. I've seen it approach $4.25 as you get closer to the DC line.
It has been two weeks since I had to get gas and the price went down a tad to $4.07 a gallon.
And about a month later, it is down to $3.95 a gallon.

Yeah, people suddenly realized that the refineries in Texas were going to be close for the weekend and panicked. Meanwhile, crude is at $101.18 per barrel, up 31 cents from yesterday when the price was the lowest it had been in months.

And a day later, some places are in the high $3.60s, and some others are in the low $4.00s. I expect all the stations in my area to be over $4.00.

I usually get Sunoco; they're at $3.65 at both stations. Mobil is close at $3.69 and I think Hess is around the same price. Then Exxon jumps up to $4.09 at all its locations (4 within 10 min. of my house). Shell is even higher at $4.29.

I thought for sure that the investors would make it shoot back to $110 because of the threat of Ike. I'm glad I'm wrong. It seems like there is an around the board sell off due to Lehman Bros and Merrill Lynch. Hopefully we will see the drop at the pumps before the end of the year.

Interesting. Here, just like jfkfc's area, it's gone up precipitously. And we have Kwik Trip selling their gas far below cost, so stations have to either match them and lose money, or be $.30 higher and be accused of gouging. http://www.fdlreporter.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080916/FON0101/809160635&referrer=FRONTPAGECAROUSEL
