It is sad that I am excited about the $3.93 gas down the street.

It has been two weeks since I had to get gas and the price went down a tad to $4.07 a gallon.

And about a month later, it is down to $3.95 a gallon.

I passed $4.69 on my way home in Cary, NC. A friend of mine saw $5.09 on Capital Road in Raleigh. I just filled up at $3.74, thirty cents more than I got on Sunday...

Yesterday? 3.49 per gallon

Today? 4.79 per gallon

Yeah, people suddenly realized that the refineries in Texas were going to be close for the weekend and panicked. Meanwhile, crude is at $101.18 per barrel, up 31 cents from yesterday when the price was the lowest it had been in months.

And a day later, some places are in the high $3.60s, and some others are in the low $4.00s. I expect all the stations in my area to be over $4.00.

Most stations are in the $3.70s, but I went to the Costco by Southcenter yesterday for $3.639 and Mrs. JJD stopped at the one in Puyallup for $3.559.

It's all over the place here on LI. From what I can tell, it depends on the brand name you get. I usually get Sunoco; they're at $3.65 at both stations. Mobil is close at $3.69 and I think Hess is around the same price. Then Exxon jumps up to $4.09 at all its locations (4 within 10 min. of my house). Shell is even higher at $4.29.

I was stunned to hear that oil dropped to $92 a barrel. Click Here (news.yahoo.com)

I thought for sure that the investors would make it shoot back to $110 because of the threat of Ike. I'm glad I'm wrong. It seems like there is an around the board sell off due to Lehman Bros and Merrill Lynch. Hopefully we will see the drop at the pumps before the end of the year.

As was I. Gas in the Raleigh area is up over forty cents/gallon in the past week, with more than just a few in the $4.24 to $4.39/gallon range.

Gas has dropped in Fresno to ~$3.75, which is as cheap as its been in a long time. I welcome future drops, however.

Interesting. Here, just like jfkfc's area, it's gone up precipitously. And we have Kwik Trip selling their gas far below cost, so stations have to either match them and lose money, or be $.30 higher and be accused of gouging.

My wife and I just bought a condo in Cambridge, MA. It was renovated in the 80s, and probably hasn't changed much since then, so we are getting a lot of work done before we move in. We're completely gutting the kitchen and bathroom and redoing everything....
