It has been great watching Eugene wrestle and imitate the wrestlers of today and the past. He has brought back memories and a smile.
As to where to for Eugene? I agree he was pushed way beyond expectations but maybe he took Shelton Benjamins spot in the feud? Maybe the creative had a similar timeline for SB and switched Eugene into it.( I dont know how close to matches creative writes so I might be wrong)
When Eugene first started I was concerned at the implications and whether they were going to leave him in George ''The Animal'' Steeles shadow. But Nick Dinsmores talent made him such a treat to watch. He started as a retard then developed as he rose to the main event arena to a Rainman character.
Where to now is the question as I feel like most only special people( and not Eugene special either) stay as main eventers for years. There has been a few suggestions from him turning heel to him dying and his ''twin brother'' appears to avenge him to tag-team with Benoit or even going over to Smackdown.
I would like to see for a short while him having a World Title Dream where he is shown sleeping perchance to dream of Golden belts around his waist( and in the dream he defeats Randy Orton), and when he awakes he believes he is the champ and starts acting like the champ , and always missing seeing Randy Orton so he continues to think Randy is injured or too scared to face Eugene. He could then be booked with people and start a run of World Champion Champions moves. Imitating every champ from Hogan to The Rock as he does now. He could make comments like ..''even special people can be the champ'' hell maybe he could even imitate David Arquette.
William Regal could then be used to protect him from the truth by making people shhh or saying to Eugene people lie when they say Randy is champ.
I think they could have fun with this ... seriously Nick Dinsmore is gold and I would hate to see him go back to OVW
I like the Eugene character a lot, still do. Every wrestling character is portrayed as the cool guy or the tough guy. This is a very Foley-later years character that's act kind of sweet and kind, which we haven't had... Personally I don't want to give up on the character yet and make a drastic change. It got popular way quicker than any other OVW guy that they penned in for great things. I think they pushed it up a little too quickly (even though I didn't mind it) but I could see it turning some people off. But I do wonder if Summerslam response wasn't such a disaster if this discussion even takes place & how much damage it did to him
As for what to do, I'll say stay the course, maybe have him tag more with Regal & slowly take away the ripping off of other wrestlers moves (he can keep one or two) and have him start wrestling his own style.
smark/net attack wienerville advisory is raised to ORANGE alert - High (Benoit lost the title to some punk kid named Orton, lets look at the positive at least it's a heel not named HHH who has the title, which allows two fresh faces battling for the World title.. whaat? excuse me? what happened on Raw! well scratch that... Over to Smackdown we wave at Justin Bradshaws title reign, I think I'm getting sea sick)- 8/22
You see, it looks like the Evolution vs. Eugene feud will continue, and if they book Eugene & Regal vs. Batista & Flair, only to take out Regal, then RAW fans can see the "surprise" appearance of Foley, who would have a HUGE rub to give to Eugene. Imagine if he pulls out "Socko Jr."
Foley's involvement might become a disaster. Fans have turned off on Eugene since while he's been fun, he hasn't bled nor given any sick bumps for us to appreciate even thinking of him in the same context as Foley.
I overcame my laziness: From CRZ's May 17, 2000 Thunder report: We end a bit early - that Flair collapse was NOT a work - that's why you didn't see it on TV. Go check out the Torch for the skinny, if you're into that.
