There was a blurb in our sports section of the Sunday paper where Steve Alford echoed my own sentiments about this movie being WAAAAYYYYYY overhyped. He was moaning about watching a lot of games of opponents that were taped off of ESPN and having to sit thru what seemed like hours of promos for this movie. He lived it, and is tired of it. I agree.
I also heard the author, John Feinstein (SP?) on a morning radio show a few weeks ago and he is distancing himself and his book from this apparent turd.
I'm torn, because if they weren't beating me over the head with promos, I'd probably watch the movie, but because I'm so annoyed with the promos, I feel like I shouldn't watch on principle. I mean, don't I put up with enough of that from the WWF??
Right now, theyre showing a Spirit of St Louis with Bob Costas doing pxp. Later, they're showing the 1976 All-Star Game and a couple other games, and I think a documentary, hopefully based on Terry Pluto's book LOOSE BALLS.
