I didn't see (hear?) anything on this past week's TV to lead me to draw any logical conclusion that the "What?" phenomenon has diminished. The folks in Jonesboro "What?"ed their way through the vows renewal ceremony. While Austin has messed with fans throwing in a "Why?" here and there and speaking off his "What?"-conducive rhythm a little bit, it's still very vocal and very strong.
"Enjoy every moment, because every moment is your life."
The tagline pretty much summarizes my feelings on "What?" I didn't mind when the fans chanted it for Austin. But does it have to be done for every single heel wrestler that goes on the mic whether or not they're feuding with Austin? And if anybody is really chanting "What?" during the national anthem, they need to get a life.

Particularly in New York, after recent events. No class. No class at all. I'm an advocate of free speech, but I'm also a big fan of telling people to PLEASE... SHUT THE HELL... UP!
Seriously though, the fact that they said “What?” during the National Anthem is lowlife.
About it phasing out. I don't see it, either. During the vow-renewing ceremony, everytime the “minister” paused, the crowd was right in there with “What?” Remember? It got to the point where Vince was all “This is a solemn ceremony, shut up, dammit!”
And then there's the (rather clever, actually) thing they do during Angle's theme music. “You suck, what? You suck, what?”
Maybe it's being done slightly less because heels cutitng promos are finding ways to combat it. They don't seem to really do it for The Undertaker, for example. But phased out? Nope. I expect it's going to get worse before it gets better.
In my opinion the "what" chant is easily beaten if its just ignored. Thats why they dont do it to Undertaker. Most of the time the crowd is quite willing to save it for Austin. But when the crowd smells bullshit or senses weakness (like the minister) they will "what" you to damn death. It always suprises me that Stephanie doesnt get hit with the "whats" more often. The crowds almost totally shuts up when she talks.
Hmmmm... maybe I'm reading a little bit too much into this (wouldn't be the first time), but does anyone find it to be an amazing coincidence that fans seem to find "Whut?" being phased out, and perhaps wrestlers are using it (and hearing it) less... right after Vince McMahon gets "pissed off" about its use in the Monday Night Wedding Abortion?
Merely planting seeds... do with them what thou wilt.

But Danielson was always believed to have the quality of work to make him worthy of a good spot. Even WWE figured when they brought him in he'd be a WHC someday, despite the fact they were burying him as a "nerd".
