I have to go with Will Ferrell's "Stranger Than Fiction". I loved this movie and watch it anytime it comes on one of my cable channels. No one I know likes it at all or even a little. When it come son, my wife usually either leaves the room or picks up a magazine because she knows I will watch it until the end from whatever point it is at.

I would like to say I recommend it, but everyone I did recommend it to cursed me afterwards.

"Marriage is like that show ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’, but it’s not funny. All the problems are the same, but you know instead of all the funny, pithy dialogue, everybody is really pissed off and tense. Marriage is like a tense, unfunny version of 'Everybody Loves Raymond', only it doesn't last 22 minutes. It lasts forever."

Maverick by a landslide (as can be demonstrated by my avatar).

I liked "Stranger Than Fiction". It would have been better if the ad campaign hadn't given away the entire plot of the movie, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

To answer the question, I think "Gremlins 2: The New Batch" is a cinematic masterpiece and I am only slightly exaggerating. Maybe other people like it, but I can't imagine anyone in the world likes it as much as me.

"Stranger Then Fiction" is one of my absolute favorites. I can't believe Will Ferrell did a movie I liked, let alone loved.

Oddly enough, I thought "Daredevil" was great.

Anyway, far too many to mention for me. The one that comes to mind for recent releases is "Speed Racer", which I originally saw in IMAX. My favorite of the year so far. I just got the Blu-ray the other night...WOW. You need a huge TV and the Blu-ray version to do the visuals justice.

But the few who actually bothered to see it didn't seem to agree.

I also loved "Stranger Than Fiction", by far my favorite Will Ferrell movie. I also liked "Speed Racer" as well.

I don't know if I am the only one that liked "Gladiator" (the 1992 movie, starring Cuba Gooding Jr, James Marshall, and Brian Dennehy), but it feels like it. The handful of people I've ever come across that have seen it, hated it. I just don't understand.

Gremlins 2 is a very well-written little film. I wouldn't say I love it, but I like it a lot.

I really, really love Friday The 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan. Anyone I find that has actually seen it thinks it's the worst of the series.

About Schmidt. I see the DVDs in $5 bins and that makes me very sad.

Your avatar is the Riders logo. And I don't know if Maverick counts, since you know me, and I LOVE Maverick.

I loved Stranger Than Fiction and Click and I think both suffered from the same problem. Comedy/Drama being marketed as a pure comedy. People weren't expecting the emotional hit from the respective storylines.

I think they were expecting another funny, maybe slapsticky, flick like Old School or Waterboy.

I loved them, friends hated them or had no interest in seeing them.

So it is. So it is. Mel would have been one avatar ago.

And yeah, you love Maverick, and all my friends love Maverick. I looked at the question more as "what movie do you love that isn't even a cult classic" kind of deal; NOBODY (nobody meaning online folks) talks about Maverick, which is a total shame.

As for Stranger Than Fiction, I really enjoyed it. The only problem is that I had built it up so much in my head as soon as I heard the plot (like two years before it came out), that it couldn't possibly reach my expectations.

I liked Gladiator (the '92 release). Not something I love, but eh.

I didn't mind Stranger Than Fiction, but the Will Farrell movie I really love that I know nobody else who does is Kicking and Screaming.

The biggie would be the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, the one with Mos Def and Sam Rockwell made in '05. Most people either say it was too untrue to the book (which I've never read) or too weird. I could watch it every day, and for a stretch of a few months, I actually did.

My girlfriend is crazy about the Steven Martin movie Mixed Nuts. Most people haven't even heard of it, and she can quote entire passages in her sleep.

I'm sorry, what's that? I couldn't hear you, my Super Bowl ring was making too much noise.

Nobody's smokin'!

Will Ferrell was good, but that was the Mike Ditka show.

Yeah, I love that one too. I watch it around once a month.

I can't believe anybody remembers reading the book. They sold it in head shops back in the day...

How can you not love it? Though I still have a problem with having a Jets QB of all people saving the world.

My pick would be "Billy Elliot", though I don't think anyone I know doesn't like it as much as they never saw or heard of it. I never thought I could enjoy a movie about a boy learning ballet, but I've never felt so compelled at the story. Truly a underrated movie.

Okay, I have to bite at this one and ask. What exactly do you have against a Jets QB saving the world?

If he can't save the Jets from a medicore offense, how can he save the world? *rimshot*

In all honestly, having read a couple of comics after seeing the movie, I never understood why they made him a QB instead of a polo player. It's nitpicky, I know.

The studio didn't believe that the average American film viewer knew what polo was, or if they did that it somehow wasn't as Joe Average American as football. Personally I've always wondered why a bunch of sweaty men on sweaty horses with mallets was a good thing to market a cologne with.

You ever smelled a sweaty man on a sweaty horse? You need something to cover that up.

I don't believe in man made global warming. I think the Earth is a lot more resiliant than the green movement paints it and the green movement is more anti-capitalist then truly concerned with saving the planet.
