This is from a Washington Post interview with Kurt Angle:

"Actually, I want you to put this in your column: I would love to take on Ray Lewis at WrestleMania 22. Make sure you put the word out. Tell him I want his [ hide ] at WrestleMania 22. I think he's the most dominant player in the NFL and I'm the most dominant wrestler in the WWE. I think that would draw huge, huge pay-per-view buys."

I mean..... is there ANY chance of this happening? Would Lewis do his gay dance if he managed to slam Angle? Is there even an advantage to doing a Wrestler vs. Pro Athlete match? Or am I forgetting all the extra buys that Bigelow/Taylor did?

By the way, Storm's gimmick includes 1.) telling the audience to shut up, and 2.) occasionally making everyone stand for the Canadian national anthem. You know they don't know what to do with a wrestler when he's making fans stand for a national anthem. It's like waving a white flag and saying, "This guy has no personality -- we give up."

It wasn't TOO long ago that he kept dropping Bret Hart's name in interviews and saying he wanted to work with him at Wrestlemania, so I wouldn't put too much stock in this.

Well Mike Tyson brought alot of outside eyes to WWF for WM when he was part of the main event. Granted he's a bit more controversial than Lewis, but lets not say Ray hasnt had his own bouts with the law. Also it was during the attitude era which was a lot different than the current state of WWE.

I think this is good for from a buisness stand point. The WWE will find themselves on sportscenter a little bit again as well as get some national media coverage because Lewis is a big star in the NFL.

As for how great the match will be, who knows but it will turn a few heads who normally wouldn't give 2 shits about wrestling. And thats what I think McMahon's whole new goal is.

I dunno - if that were the case, he really oughta be calling out Tom Brady. I'd plop down $40 to watch Kurt "accidently" snap his ankle in a damn heartbeat. >:)

Oh, like Luger/Bulldog vs. the Blu Twins was putting asses in seats.

I wouldn't count on it, but it might be potentially entertaining.

I still mourn the aborted ring career of Kevin Greene. I thought he "got" wrestling and showed it really quick. Decent mic work, good showmanship, had the build for it too. And compared to Reggie White and Mongo, he looked like a seasoned pro in there.

So why did he quit wrestling.

He was a big fan favorite here when he played for the Steelers.

My understanding is that he didn't want to travel that often. As a Panther, he had a reputation as a family man.

Compared to Reggie White and Mongo, ANYONE can look like a seasoned pro. Reggie had the excuse of not doing it full-time and just as part of a PR stunt, though. Mongo? Not so much.

Reggie White wrestled briefly in Memphis when he played in the USFL. His later day exploits were PR stunts, but his earlier stuff wasnt MONGO level bad.

I actually met Kevin Green at a Nitro, and he was a very nice guy, who kept having to tell Rick Steiner he would never had made it in the NFL. Rick kept trying to block him, or pass rush around him and Kevin Green kept putting him on his ass. Pretty fun stuff to watch.

If I'm not mistaken wasn't a HHH-Ray Lewis match at a recent Wrestlemania booked until right around February when it all fell apart? Anyone else remember this?

I think you might be thinking of when WWE was trying to put together a Brock Lesnar/Lennox Lewis match a few years back.

And god, doesn't it feel weird mentioning events with Brock Lesnar as "a few years back"?

You's both right. A Brock/Lennox shootfight was planned for Feb 2003, as well as Kurt Angle vs. Michael Moorer. Yes, there was a chance that the Wrestlemania headliners could've been knocked out by boxers on PPV a month before Mania.

Hunter/Lewis in a worked match was one of several ideas for Triple H at Wrestlemania 17, including Shawn Michaels' comeback match, Hulk Hogan who was a free agent, and ultimately Undertaker. I don't know how serious negotiations got with him, but the idea was that his going as a babyface against the #1 heel in wrestling would rehabilitate Ray's image, kind of like Mike Tyson at Wrestlemania 14.

I know WWE probably doesn't care a whole lot about its fans outside North America, and I can't speak for Japan or Europe, but if this happened it had better actually be a good match, because I can safely say that a lot of people's reactions here would go something like "Who the hell is Ray Lewis?".

Only if we get a Rodney Harrison run-in to spear Angle.

Say, is David Arquette available now? Maybe he can fight Angle at WM?

"Guerrero wouldn't have the title at all if Lesnar and/or Goldberg were there." Lesnar left partly because he couldn't handle that they gave the title to Guerrero with no intentions of Lesnar winning it back like in previous instances.
