I think it was the July 1st edition of Raw where Jeff Hardy was facing Undertaker in a ladder match. I was just wondering what would happen if he went against the creative team's finish for the match, lived for the moment so to speak, and did grab the Undisputed belt?
I mean, Jeff was stalling quite a bit, he surely would've been able to get it in time before Undertaker would've knocked him off the ladder. It was obviously his for the taking and Jeff Hardy would've been etched in stone as an Undisputed WWE Champion. He wouldn't even have to pin, which would never in a million years happen, just snatch the belt. What are they going to do, reverse it when he clearly won it?
Now of course it would seem all sweet because the crowd would've popped pretty loudly, but once he got backstage, he'd probaly get more heat than you can imagine. I don't think they'd fire him, he's too good a talent. They'd probaly suspend him though or have him job left and right. or both. Or actually, they probaly would fire him, thus warning that if anyone pulled a trick like this again, they'd be terminated.
Oh well, if I were Jeff Hardy, I would have lived the for the moment and swallowed the consquences. Hopefully no termination....
I think Jeff Hardy's fate would have been sealed! First off, they'd probably break 'brand extension' ranks and have UT demand a rematch against Hardy on SmackDown!, and come up with some BS reason as to why both guys could show up on SD!, i.e. Taker's got some kind of contract clause. Then, Jeff would get completely squashed by Taker. Taker would regain the WWE Undisputed Title in 1:18 of grueling action.
Jim Ross would subsequently bury Jeff in The Ross Report, and make some cryptic ccomments about how people ought to do what they're told.
And then, on the following RAW, Jeff would take on Bradshaw. Bradshaw would go all mega-stiff and injure Jeff Hardy legit. After recovering from six and a half months of injuries, Jeff Hardy would then do Heat duty for the next 27 months, engaging in such killer mat classics like Jeff vs. the unruly Crash, and Hardy battling Steven Richards in three minute MTV-exclusive, Heat main events.
And then Good-ol' J.R. would insist that Jeff Hardy is "A young man with great potential and a hell of a future, if he could improve on his mic work and limit the high risk wrestling maneuvers." And he'd shill his barbecue sauce, which, by this point in future-time, would FINALLY hit the market.
Gee, I wonder if I'm venting?
David Crockett sez it best, folks: "Look at 'im! Look at 'im, Tony!"

what a scenario! i know a lot of jeff hardy-haters that would absolutely have loved that, although by the time it happened they wouldn't be watching anyway because after hardy won the belt they would have tuned out forever.
oh, and there *is* a hardy battling steven richards in heat main events every week. matt and steven have had some barnburners in the past month, 3 or 4 matches if i'm not mistaken. all have been really good (for heat) and about 5 or 6 minutes long each. it's not THAT bad, but i guess both of them could be doing better things.

I was at that particular Raw in NH and I just wanted to mention that the pop you hear for the Hardy Boyz is quite deceiving. It sounds somewhat loud on tv, but in person it really is just the females in the crowd screeching really loud. It's not like the eruption that occurs when say Austin or Rock come out. During the match you could hear a pin drop. And speaking of that Raw, it was pretty bad. The first match was the best(Flair-Brock) and the ladder match was very slow and boring in my opinion. After the show I pretty much decided that I was only going to attend house shows and PPV's(where you are more likely to see good.....wrestling). Thankfully Smackdown in Boston the next night ruled the school(aired 7/4).
Anyhoo, If Hardy did grab the belt, he probably would have faced Lesnar or Angle and had his ass beat legit. He then would have been blackballed from wrestling(or at least WWE).
BTW:Matt Hardy is, by far, the superior Hardy. If he wasn't the wrestling equivalent of NSync, I would probably cheer for him.
gonna build a giant drill and bore straight into hell releasing ancient demons from their sleep-forever spell so they can walk upon the earth and get recituated and run the diet pill pyramid that MC Pee Pants has created
He'd probably still be hospitalized about now. When he got out, he could try for a job with Jarett, but I don't know if they would hire him after a stunt like that. Maybe he could end up getting gonged on "30 seconds of fame" playing his aucoustic guitar
Jeff Hardy sucks. Besides doing lame spots, what else can the skinny ugly clothes raver posing bastard do? I hate his gimmick (the young hotshot whos cool) but I can't blame him, I blame the writers. They think this is what kids want to see. No wonder the ratings are below sea level.
But I can honestly say I have never been entertained by him in singles competition. Don't get me wrong, the TLC matches left me wide eyed and my jaw on the ground also but he sucks as a singles competitor. God forbid he ever climbs out of the lower midcard. He's more boring than HHH.
If Jeff Hardy had pulled a stunt like that, he'd be finished in wrestling. If the WWE, at a point when business is down, is willing to say that they're not interested in bringing a guy like Steve Austin back because they can't trust him, what would they do with a guy like Hardy? I doubt he'd be fired, because that would let him work elsewhere, but they could very easily suspend him without pay and quite possibly sue him by arguing that by breaching his contract and going against the script he cost them X amount of money in pay per view buys because his actions forced them to alter their main storyline. And after whatever course of action was taken, what promoter would risk bringing in a guy who pulls that kind of stunt? Certainly any promoter higher up the food chain than indy-show-at-YMCA booker would know that Jeff Hardy couldn't be trusted to go along with the plan, and the risk of hiring him would be much greater than the potential damage he could cause the next time he decides to "Live for the Moment".
Oh yeah, and what do you think Undertaker would have done to him after the show? Taker's on record as saying that if HBK backed out of the WM 14 match the day of the show like he apparently wanted to it would have been "a long night for Shawn Michaels". What would have happened to a guy like Hardy if he went against the script and killed Taker's heel badass character?
