Just an idea that's been kicking around in my head since finishing Freddie Blassie's book. What if Andy Kaufman had lived and been able to continue being involved in wrestling? Would he have been part of the Rock N Wrestling connection? I know he wasn't a rocker but as a celebrity I mean. If you don't feel like answering this question, then feel free to throw out a What If? of your own.

It's an interesting question. From everything I'd read about Kaufman, his star was starting to fizzle out before he died, so I'm not sure he would have been a top celebrity in the WrestleMania era.

That said... there's no reason he couldn't have been PART of that era. He seemed to genuinely love wrestling, and even Lawler says in his book that Andy made a great heel.

I think maybe Kaufman would have moved on before it got as big as the Rock 'n Wrestling era. He didn't follow fads, he went against them and did his own thing. As much as he loved wrestling, I think he would have found some new outlet once it became the in thing.

I don't really care for it when young wrestlers barely into their careers are already writing biographies about it. When Foley's book came out, he was nearing the end of his run and had spent nearly 2 decades in the business.
