Better put: What are some childhood fantasies that you still carry with you today?

I'm gonna go in a somewhat odd direction with mine, so don't feel compelled to follow my example. Just go with whatever answers come up for the original question. Ok, here goes:

Personally I think my most conceited notion is that I have lived previous lives. When I was a baby a woman told my mother that I was a wise child, and that I had a "Very old soul". That wouldn't be the last time I heard that, or something similar and I've always been a bit captivated by the idea.

It's fun to rationalize that my ease of understanding about the world around me and the people in it springs not from mere learning, but a more advanced intuitive sense - unconscious gleanings from the previous journeys of my soul.

Believing this allows me to feel special in the eyes of others as well as the eys of God. Who was I in these past lives? What great wisdoms have I learned? What truths have I yet to uncover? What is my purpose in returning to this world - is it simply to continue the growth of my soul, or something more specific to accomplish?

To think that there may be more to my life than meets the eye has always been my greatest fantasy and one I still live to this day.

From Mrs. too-old-now, I apparently still carry around the idea that the world revolves around me.

Maybe it's just me, but reading Jag's post about "continuing the growth of his soul" followed by MARVEL ZOMBIES is just pretty damn funny.

When I was a kid, the fantasy was all about super-powers. I still think that would be all sorts of cool.

When I was a kid, I always dremed of super-powers too. Primarily, invunerability. Occasionally, I'll still have that dream.

I always wanted to be Batman, primarily for the large amounts of brooding on top of skyscrapers you'd get to do. I was a worrisome child.

Add me to the list of those who used to (and occasionally still does) fantasize about having super powers.

I also used to fantasize that I was the star of a television show about my own life. So, you can imagine that when The Truman Show came out, it instantly became one of my favorite movies (although by that time, I was old enough that I remembered it as being a childhood fantasy and nothing more).

Four words: What Might Have Been. I think often about what life could have been like should I have not made one decision, not broken up with someone, anything like that.

Add me to the list of Batmen, but more because he was a non-superpowered superhero and has abilities much more attainable than, say heat-vision or planet-rending strength. You have to admit that it's cool to think that a human being could have a chance against "supers" and Batman has been booked in that manner. There are still days when I feel that "I coulda been Batman, if..."

My dream as a young child was to play for the New York Rangers and score the Stanley Cup winning goal - I had to settle for playing 2 games in the Lake Placid Olympic Arena 6 weeks before the Miracle on Ice.

My dream for the past 20 years has been to write successful novels and run a small restaurant/bar out in Idaho or Montana. That's a long way from my cubicle overlooking Route 78.....

A childhood fantasy I DID have, like many others, was super powers.

In early elementary school I read my first Spider-Man comic and decided I wanted his powers. I had a plan to take every science-type lab class I could when I got to high school and college in hopes one would deal with radioactivity. If one did, I would smuggle in a spider and make sure it was exposed before I coaxed it to "accidentally" bite me.

Yeah, that didn't really pan out.
At the time, it seemed like a rock solid idea in my young mind.

Later, I wanted to be a hot dog vendor at Fenway Park so I could see all the games while getting paid. With all my money I thought, surely I could afford a nice place to live in downtown Boston...

ah, the innocence of childhood...

I always vacillated between having super powers and being a famous artist. Either one would still be pretty cool in my books, however unlikely.

It might be that time hasn't given me proper perspective yet, but I might go out on a limb and daresay that this past Friday night's Depeche Mode "Playing the Angel" show was AWESOME.
