First thing's first: I never got to see Jericho in WCW. Hell, I barely even saw WCW. The best I got was the Channel 5's airings of Worldwide and the last ever Nitro. Even though I hear and read so much about how awesome some of his work was there, I have no experience myself. If anyone can point me toward a comp of this stuff, I'd be most grateful.

There was a huge buzz about Jericho's WWF debut, and it was top work. His promo against the Rock (which led to a feud TWO YEARS LATER) was a great introduction and helped Y2J look like a big deal. Shame about the work with Shamrock, and the style adjustment which took him off step for a while. Also, don't forget his awkward run in 2001 where, despite greatness involving Benoit and the 2-man power trip, he screwed up in a couple of high profile matches which really didn't help his stock much. It's no secret his WWF/E career is littered with peaks and troughs

That said, I enjoy Jericho's work tremendously. His face routine, although borrowing some of those Monday Night Jericho ideas (remember Chris Benoit as a goat?), did end up having a cookie-cutter approach but crowds really enjoyed it. I grew tired of it though, and was gasping for a heel Jericho.
His heel turn against The Rock was superbly scripted and the ensuing feud was gold. It was great to see him as the first (of few) Undisputed Champ, and he'll always have that to boast about despite the politics.

Ultimately, the man is a survivor. He keeps floating to the top, no matter how many time it looks like he's sinking. He's getting into the swing of his cocky heel role again, and an IC feud or two against deserving mid and upper-mid carders will do good for all talent involved. He's not the best, but he's one of the best. He has great matches, a good mind for ringwork and promos, and he entertains the hell out of me.

I have been a Jericho mark since WCW. I always thought he was the best thing about WCW. The man was given no direction and no guidance yet made himself and his character the most enjoyable part of Nitro/Thunder. When he came to the WWF, he had been out of wrestling for a while as WCW saw fit to let him rot the last few months of his contract. It took a while to get his bearings, but he has become a super star in the WWE.

His mic work and facial expressions are top notch. He oozes charism and confidence. However, I do think that he knows the score. He knows that unless something happens to HHH (injury) or Jericho grows six inches in height overnight, he will never really be given a chance as the main man again. His run as undisputed champ was a total failure. Not on his part but because someone (coughHHHcough) decided to make him look the fool the entire time and lessen his ability to be seen as a credible champ. Since then, I do nolt think his in ring work has been bad, I just think it has not been as consistenly great as it was. And I think that has to do with his knowledge that no maated how good he looks in the ring, he is one HHH squash away from slidding back down the ladder. That probably leads to his lack of enthusiasm in the ring.

I think if they give him the IC belt and get him away from the title picture (is he even in it now?) for a year that would be the best thing for him. Have him feud with Booker T, RVD, Kane, Christian and Lance Storm for the next year for the strap. That might get his focus back in the ring. By then, hopefully, HBK and Nash will be gone, Goldberg will have failed and he will be in Japan and HHH will have moved upstairs into a managment role (or better yet, Steffo divorces him and Vince kills his push and he spends the next five years jobbing to Funaki) and there will be a opening for Jericho in the main event picture.

By the way, Jericho would be in line for a huge push if that fucking self righteous bastard HBK had stuck to his words of putting over younger talent and ridding off into the sunset and had given Jericho the W at Wrestlemania. If HBK has a soul in that black pit of ego he calls a body, he will be doing the return favor to Jericho in a near future PPV ladder match. But I doubt THAT will ever happen.

To answer the original questions..

Ringwork: Superlative, although he has suffered now and then from the "I'm a heel so I forget how to wrestle" malady so common in the WWE.

Promo Skills: Better than almost anyone currently working, in my opinion. (Note that the Rock is not currently working)

Next feud: Ultimo Dragon! Dare to dream..

Face turns: I like Chris as a heel, but pretty much every time he seems like he might switch and then doesn't I fall for it, like at the end of his match with HBK I was like "Oh you bastard!" and laughed.

Attitude: Seems good.

Work ethic: Very good. Certainly willing to put others over and sell their moves.

I liked Jericho's Man of 1004 Holds gimmick. "Armbar." Most of his WCW antics in 1998 were hilarious, like the time he yelled the number of one of his holds in a match.

I also liked Jericho's reign as Undisputed Champ which was sadly overshadowed by dogs, and Steph among others.

Jericho has even managed to have somewhat decent matches with Scott Steiner and Kevin Nash. Few wrestlers can do that but Jericho did. I also like "The Highlight Reel." But Jericho needs to stay heel, because as a face he's not as great as when he's a heel.

I think Jericho's best days may be behind him. I think he's capable of carrying the promotion, and I believe the fans are ready to scream their heads off to boo or cheer him. But there's too much of the apparent philosophy at the WWE that he'll have his chance when others step down. Unless a nostalgia act or another big-stud experiment come in. I think his best shot at being top dog was ruined when Kurt Angle emerged as a freak with across-the-board greatness.

Jericho was in the catbird seat as the first undiputed champ until it became a Steph/Hunter angle. The WWE just hasn't done anything with him as a credible main-eventer since then despite him working his butt off. He's beaten Rock and Austin but he's way behind in the Hunter feud. I think it's very possible, he''s gonna be another Mr. Perfect or Lex Luger. He just won't be able to clear that last hurdle.

Ringwork: He's hit and miss. That Lionsault on RAW was a mess because he tried it despite Nash lying too far away. But he's wrestling in lifts, so you gotta give him a pass. If I were to ask him do change anything, it'd be to crank the Walls more so it doesn't look like a Boston Crab.

Promo Skills: Top-notch. Possibly the best talker in the industry right now.

Next feud: I can't decide if I want to see him go over someone of a higher stature or work with a midcarder who can really wrestle.

Face turns: He's like Flair. It doesn't matter what his role is, folks like me will cheer him.

Attitude: He's a pro for working under Hunter all this time.

Work ethic: Seems to bring the energy every night.

Here goes.

Ringwork: At first I was going to say okay, but this guy's more versatile than I thought. Seeing his match with Shawn Michaels proved that.

Promo skills: as a face, they got boring at times, but now as a heel, I have yet to not smile through one of them. Outside of a Victoria match, the Highlight Reel's my favorite segment.

Face Turn: NO WAY! He's more entertaining as a heel. I wasn't sure how they could keep him a convincing heel at first. Now, I'm convinced that he's much BETTER as a naughty, naughty boy.

Next Feud: Shawn Michaels, and if HBK loses, he's retired! It's gonna happen, dammit!

Attitude: If he's havin' fun, we're havin' fun.

Work Ethic: Great, especially during the Michaels match.

Chris Jericho is one of my favorite people on the WWE roster currently. I love his heel promos, even moreso back during the WCW days though. He was gold when he was "feuding" with Goldberg.

I feel that with Jericho, like with Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Booker T., and a few other guys, the WWE just squandered their talents. These guys are all awesome, but the WWE just never capitalized with their Championship pushes', or Jericho's Title reign. I find myself always wondering "What if....?"

Back on topic, Jericho is fun to watch in the ring, even when he was having a bout with sloppiness. He's a gem on the mic. He's an awesome heel and I agree with the few people who feel that despite the crap they give him to work with, he makes it good.

HE RULES

Even though he's had less great matches over the last year, I've never been more impressed with him as a worker because of what he's done in carrying guys like Hogan, Kane, and Steiner.

He's an incredible heel, and he would be a great face if they wanted to turn him and push him to the top, but they won't, so he might as well stay heel.
