I admit it, I watch The West Wing not for the drama or the issues but for the comedy. Oh my God this weeks episode was gold. When the first lady cut the tie all I could do was pray I could stop laughing long enough to breathe. So Wieners do you still watch the West Wing and if so what for?
I do. I started because my 10th grade civics teacher said he would give us extra credit if we did a report on it each week and I was failing. Now, I watch because it's the best thing in it's time slot.
I stopped watching early in the second season when the producers decided it was more important to lecture us about random issues throughout the show than to create a compelling drama. This is despite the fact that I agreed with their lectures 90% of the time.
If that show had any guts they'd have Bartlett lose and do the next four years with a Republican president. That would be kind of cool. It'd also be a great way to resolve those nasty contract disputes.
Has the show gotten any better lately? Are they getting away from the super-contrived random asides about whatever issue Aaron Sorkin read about in last week's paper?
Expressing myself EVERY day - but especially on July 22, 2002!
