Right. Because there's no point in expressing an opinion about anything, especially on a message board!!!!

I mean, if I wanted to say that Todd McFarlane ruined Spider-man, I couldn't, because I don't work for Marvel, or sit in on any meetings, or listen with a glass to his door, right?? And, hey, I'd probably just want him to sign something if I met him.

Whatever.

You're totally missing my point with this last bit, but that's okay. You seem to do that a lot with my posts for some reason.

I'll restate.

It's amazing that many of the people who are the first to stand up and defend their "opinon" on something (usually using the "free country" defense) were among the first to bash Triple H for offering HIS opinon on the very same product they get off on bashing as well. Pot. Kettle. Black. It's that easy. Whether or not this applies directly to YOU, asteroidboy, is up for you to decide.

I'd like to say I'm interested in seeing HHH come to Raw. If he can lose some bulk and put out the matches he did a year and a half ago than bring it on. If he's going to fued with Book that's cool too as long as he doesn't bury him like Austin and Rock did.

To all you people who bash the product before you've seen anything please give it a rest. At least give one or two shows to see where Trip's angle is going...then bash as you may.

Well they finally got HHH/Steffo seperated, the only way I see Steffo on both shows if she becomes the women's champ which can happen(Stephanie Booking 101).

If he does get into a program with Booker T, in the end you know whose shoulders are gonna get pinned to the mat.

Anyway... yeah, we can express our opinions, Triple H can express his. But why the hell is he doing it in an official capacity and talking down to the rest of the boys? There's a big difference between a co-worker expressing his opinion of someone's work, and a “boss” doing the same-- and Triple H's comments sounded more like a managerial chew-out to me.

I don't know where he gets off saying that, especially considering that his own workrate recently hasn't exactly been perfect. Yeah, the guy is over with the sheep, but so are a lot of guys, including several on the RAW roster such as Booker T and Rob Van Dam. But didn't he chew out every one of the boys on the RAW roster, from BT and RVD on down?

Guess what? Now he has the opportunity to do that everyday.

Everyone with half a sense of what it's like to be a manager knows that public criticism is not the way to help people straighten up. In a worst-case scenario, you set the person aside for a minute, calmly explain how you feel he can improve, tell him a few things he is doing correctly, and give him a vote of confidence.

Instead, Triple H basically rips on all the guys, saying “YOU ALL SUCK!” for the most part. One, who the hell is Triple H to addressing them in an official capacity in the first place, and two, why the hell is he publicly criticizing the group as a whole instaead of offering his calm, veteran guidance to the guys that need it?

I think there's a considerable differnece between offering your opinion about something to a group of people in a social setting (like here) and walking into work and telling a group of your co-workers over whom you supposedly have no managerial authority that they're responsible for the problems in the company because they're not as skilled at their job as you are. Especially if there's a possibility that your performance is just as likely to be responsible for the problems you're citing in the first place.

Of course, if the supervisors present had no problem with him doing this and he's not punished for doing it, either he IS part of the management or they just don't care, in which case he does have every right to do it. It still doesn't mean he should and it doesn't mean he doesn't come off like a huge jerk and will likely be thought of as such by people when talking about it later.

If it wasn't for his feud with The Rock, he wouldn't have found his crazy-ass stupid-yet-entertaining persona that he has now. And his feud with Austin also led to some pretty entertaining segments as well. He ultimately lost to Rock & Austin, but that's just because they're better than him.

My beef is this - no one is ever gonna know exactly what goes on behind the scenes, but it's fun to speculate. And to read others' speculation. Is there some hypocrisy? Sure.

But is it entertaining to read everyone's $0.02? Absolutely.

I'm guessing the people who keep bashing HHH's "pep talk" have never played sports.

When times are down and the team isn't performing that well, it's a GOOD thing for a leading teammate/employee to motivate everyone else. And, judging by statements made by his coworkers, he is a leader in the locker room.

So HHH (and Jim Ross, and therefore probably the rest of the office) notices that people seem to be preoccupied at work and leave at the first opportunity, often before the show is over.

The gist of HHH's talk (as I gathered from the parts I saw) was "The program is sliding downhill, and you guys are pulling this sh*t? You should be working HARDER to make this a better program, putting forth whatever extra effort you can."

Now, if HHH had a reputation for doing those same things, there would be a problem: he would be a hypocrite. But we've all read the reports of how he's at every show, even when he doesn't have to be, and (remember this one from when he was an Internet darling) he reportedly loves the business he's in.

People who want (yes, WANT) to bash HHH say that all that's just so he'll have more clout. WTF? If I'm a boss, and this guys acting like a model employee, he sure as hell deserves some clout, whether or not he actually has it.

BTW, if Lesnar is Undisputed, Unbeatable Champion somewhere down the road, and HHH is one of the top faces on RAW, what would be wrong with him being the one to stop the streak? I would PREFER to see a Benoit, Booker, or RVD do it, but if it works well, I have no complaints.

If you don't like his work in the ring, THAT'S OKAY...it's your opinion. I agree that he hasn't looked as good as he used to in a match since his return. I just see thread after thread bashing the guy on the basis of the same speculation, and in my own HUMBLE (but always correct) opinion, it's unwarranted without some hard evidence.

Triple H backstage and Triple H on camera are two TOTALLY different things. I could care less if the man fucked goats and licked Vince's feet on a nightly basis. The fact remains that he is still going onto a show, which I happen to enjoy, to take up AT LEAST 20 minutes with his gruntings, ramblings and good ole fashion dick jokes. I don't want to watch DX vs Slaughter again, I do not want to watch DX again.

DX will take up at least 20 minutes on Raw, I think that's a safe bet. To me that's a 10 and 2 five or even 4 five minute segments that sombody else loses. In the end I lose. This weeks Raw will be interesting.

Fine W.Wolf let's take a sports team example. Hockey if you will. If there one guy who get's paid more then you but has dropped off horribly in the last few years and his +/- is way down but still get's tons of powerplay time and the powerplay is awful. And how badly he plays it seems to never effect his ice time. Oh by the way he's sleeping with the owners/coaches daughter. And he gets in the face of young players who as good as they play never get the first line time and says it's there fault because they are in the basement of the standings... I'd be like F-U, your the one hogging the ice time, your the one who can't step back and allow others to shine.

I'm surprised the no one mention yet the a bunch of untalented has-bean buddies that Triple H put in a good word for that came in and pushed as main guys and absolutely failed and sucked. While everyone else on RAW gets pushed back or stayed stuck for 4 months. Then Triple H comes out before Raw and blames the workers for the failed NWO-RAW. THE GULL.

I WOULD. Why? Because he's always the one who puts the big anvil on top of someone head to stop there push. You even admit those names you mentioned are better choices. I agree why because they have some upside. Hate to break this to you Triple H fans, he's a flash in the pan and it looks like his main eventing peak has came and went in 2000, early 01.

I agree speculation sucks, but when it's so obvious that he doesn't play by the same rules as other and is pushed harder then he deserves. When he gets a free pass to a World Title at WrestleMania in not even knowing if FACE-H is a good character or not or if his body is ready.

When it seems like every upper mid-card character is never able to pass his roadblock, it's not speculation anymore it's in front of our eyes. Examples this year of Angle and Jericho is so obvious.

-Angle def H at FEB. WWEPPV. Next night H def. Angle on RAW. AFTERMATH HHH gets pushed up and wins World Title at Mania... Angle get's pushed down and goes against Kane at WM

-JEricho beats H 2 weeks before Hell in a Cell. Hell in a Cell PPV H def Jericho. AFTERMATH HHH gets yet another World Title angle (had a pathetic world title match) and is being treated now as the #1 free agent in wrestling... Jericho feuds with Mark Henry & Farroq and loses in first match in KOTR (match of the night). A 4 week feud with Cena losing one way or the other the last 3 times in a row.

When people are commentating on HHH. I don't the we/they are doing it for the hell of it. There's examples over and over again. And Yes it is fair to "speculate" when a worker is porking one of the main writers and the bosses daughter the if he gets "special" treatment.

A concise opinion on why I do not enjoy Triple H:

* I believe his in ring work is nowhere near as good as it was during his glory days of 2000 against Foley (yes, it's not his fault he was injured, but I enjoy him less as a result

* I don't enjoy superman pushes, where even top stars are nigh on squashed. I never have done. I hated 'impervious Hogan', I hated 'no selling Austin' and Triple H doing the same gimmick just doesn't do it for me.

[/opinion]

Postscript: I have tried to stay away from the existentialist discussion about who should be allowed to post what on a free message board where disagreeing used to actually be, you know, OK, but I have to ask: did I miss CRZ come back and appoint a bunch of people our new moral guardians? This thread is a classic example of the fine line between well thought out posters making observations and dressed up flaming pretending to do the same.

And, yeah, yeah, I realise it's not my place to say anything but there you go.

Now somebody flame me. Thats what we do around here now, right?

The quality of HHH's in-ring work:

2000:
Royal Rumble: Streetfight vs. Foley, excellent
No Way Out: Cell vs. Foley, excellent
WrestleMania: vs. Big Show, Rock & Foley, pretty good
Backlash: vs. Rock, really good
Judgment Day: Iron Man vs. Rock, excellent
King of the Ring: Tag w/McMahons vs. Rock/Kane/Taker, okay
Fully Loaded: Last Man Standing vs. Jericho, excellent
SummerSlam: vs. Angle & Rock, pretty good
Unforgiven: vs. Angle, pretty good
No Mercy: vs. Benoit, really good
Survivor Series: vs. Stone Cold, died but got better
Armageddon: Cell 6-Way [Rikishi, Taker, Austin, Rock, Angle], pretty good
OPPONENTS: Foley (3), Big Show, Rock (6), Kane (1), Taker (2), Angle (3), Benoit (1), Rikishi (1), Austin (2), Jericho (1)
2001:
Royal Rumble: vs. Angle, really good
No Way Out: 3 Stages of Hell vs. Austin, excellent
WrestleMania: vs. Undertaker, pretty good
Backlash: w/Austin vs. Undertaker/Kane, crappy
Judgment Day: vs. Kane, better than expected
INJURED
2002:
Royal Rumble: won Rumble match
No Way Out: vs. Angle, pretty good
WrestleMania: vs. Jericho, okayish
Backlash: vs. Hogan, okayish
Judgment Day: vs. Jericho, formulaic but good
King of the Ring: vs. Undertaker, crappy
Vengeance: no match

Okay, pre-injury HHH weighed 240 and kicked ass against varied opponents. Post-injury HHH weighs 280 and is sluggish. I'd say he needs to lose 40 pounds and get back to where he was before the injury...otherwise, he needs to diversify his opponents, too.

My thoughts on Triple H:

I don't like him. And while yes, I do think he *probably* has more pull backstage than he should and his comments that were posted on WWE.com last week were highly hypocritical, that doesn't matter. The simple fact is the guy isn't entertaining. And I'm not talking about compared to old Triple H. I'm talking about, period. This guy is awful now. He comes to the ring and does one of two things: wrestles poorly or drones on and on. And the fact that he's "held down" Jericho doesn't make him big in my book either. And I don't care if it's not his fault, I REFUSE to believe that HHH can't say "Hey, Vince, Jericho should probably go over here." Others did it for him or he wouldn't be here today. However, for the most part, the utter amount of "HHH has too much power" complaing has completely desensitized me to it. I just don't care. Nobody can prove anything and thus the only thing I really get upset about is the Jericho situation. Maybe he didn't use his pull to win, but he sure didn't stop anything. Him losing to Jericho woud have been better for the entire company and even for himself.

Oh, on a sidenote, HHH wasn't too bad tonight. He wasn't too good either, but I didn't want to shoot myself while he was on TV, so that's a start.

Bottom line for me and HHH:

the guy was on my TV for a total of almost 40 minutes, none of it wrestling.

And here's the real nightmare: HE'S JUST GETTING STARTED.

While the quality of most of the TV hasn't been too wonderful of late, I have to admit I do think we're headed in the right direction. Orton, Eddie, Benoit, soon-to-include Edge, Cena, and a handful of others, the future doesn't look too horrible.
