Personally, I am going to not watch TV, go to work, not buy anything and remember those killed in America, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, The Sudan, Chile, Nicaragua and all other places touched by the evil hand of war and hope for peace.

I'll also wonder what what have happened if the CIA/FBI took these threats serious. I watched the NBC special tonight and I wonder what would have happened if the fire escapes were not locked and there was a proper evacution. The NY Port Authority is already getting a taste of lawsuits.

Hopefully we will learn

I'm still getting ready for work (or at least I *SHOULD* be, instead of being HERE) and watching some of the interviews on TV. Hopefully it'll be pretty slow at work today so I can keep watching there.

I'm heading to my TV station, to cover all the local ceremonies remembering those lost on 9-11. I just finished up last week editing a special rememberance video we're putting on at the end of the 10:00 news tonight...took me 7 hours to edit less than 5 minutes of video. (Thank goodness the producer helping me had her sh*t together.)

Back here in Badgerland, we've lost a few local folks to Al-Qaeda: an Army colonel in the Pentagon, several Wisconsin folks in the WTC...and one of the sailors aboard the USS Cole (suicide-bombed by two idiots in a rubber boat in a Yemeni port in 2000) was from Fond du Lac.

My prayers out to all the families of those who lost loved ones a year ago. And here's hoping, by some miracle, we capture Osama bin Laden alive...so we can KICK HIS MISERABLE ASS SIX WAYS FROM SUNDAY.

Anyway...take a look at a flag today, and remember. Be proud to be Americans...and for the rest of you, stand strong.

Star wipe, and...we're out.

I got up and went to work, just like last year.

I'm keeping the TV off tonight, unlike last year. I know perfectly well what happened last year -- I don't need a moment-by-moment recap on 47 channels.

I'll be leaving work shortly, stopping at the grocery store, making meatloaf & mashed potatoes for dinner, and playing Freedom Force on my PC until my wife gets home. (Mmmm, Freedom Force. Whoever created the Tick mesh and voice-pack for it needs a raise.)

Well it turned out to be pretty slow at work today (never a bad thing, despite what my boss may tell you), so I watched a lot of the 9/11 stuff on TV. I think I left it on NBC all day. For most of the first half of the day, Tom Brokaw(sp?) had a town hall meeting type deal with survivors and relatives of victims of 9/11 in the audience sharing stuff about where they were when it happened, who they lost, how life's been since it happened, etc. That was pretty interresting.

I think before that, Katie Kouric(sp?) was on the rooftop of a neighboring building to Ground Zero interviewing people. She had Hillary Clinton, Rudy Gulliani, the current NYC mayor, the current NY governor, and some other folks. That was pretty interresting too.

When they started showing all the memorials and Bush speaking at them and people singing the national anthem and stuff, I stopped watching.

Was I the only one that watched any of it?

I saw very little of it - I watched the local news' coverage of the memorials in Shanksville, but I had no interest in seeing footage of those towers collapsing again or listening to Bush stumble to tie it to Iraq or hear what the celebrities of the moment feel one year later.

I did watch Clinton on Dave last night, though. Seeing him speak again after two years of Dubya - I tell you, it's like apples and oranges.

I know. It makes you thankful that we currently have a competent leader as our president instead of a draft-dodging, philandering, egocentric shithead.

I forget ... was Dubya in the Army, Navy or Marines in Vietnam? Given his age, and with his father's sterling war record in WWII, I'm sure he was fighting on the front lines like every other affluent white American in the late '60s.

Aw, I'll give Dubya a little credit -- I don't know if he's a philanderer or not.

As for the other two, egocentric should be obvious, and www.awolbush.com should cover the draft-dodging part. Shithead is, of course, a subjective measure.

I really enjoyed seeing Clinton on Dave's show last night. I dont wanna start nothin here (I SWEAR), but it was refreshing to hear him talk. Bush never comes off as knowing what he's talking about to me. I'm not saying doesnt know what he's talking about, that's just the way he comes off to me. Maybe it's his facial expressions or manurisms(sp?). Clinton came off as very knowledgeable about the whole deal last night though.

I probably shoulda kept that to myself.

Exactly. Bush doesn't seem to know what he is talking about. Maybe he does, but it doesn't come off that way. He appears to be reading when he has an address (like last night's), and that his inflection and mannerisms lead you to believe that he's just reading words and doesn't understand what he's really saying. Again - I am not saying he's a moron, it just looks like he needs lots of prompting.

As for last night's address to the nation.. Man, day of remembrance, George, not Let's Take Out Saddam Day.

People shouldn't equate poor public speaking skills to lower intelligence or bad leadership. Clinton was a great public speaker; the words just rolled of his tongue and he redefined parts of the English language (it depends on what the definition of the word "is" is). But just because someone is a great speaker doesn't mean that they are any better or worse at their job as a leader or that they are smarter than someone who stumbles over the occasional word. Hitler was an AWESOME public speaker and we all know what people think of him.

I'm not sure I understand your point. Hitler managed to unite his whole country and lead it to a war against all of Europe that he almost won. With the exception of double-crossing Stalin, I think he knew what he was doing. Not that I think any of the things Hitler did were right, but he was definately a good leader.

Anyway, Bush hasn't shown me that he could lead himself out of his office without help. He always comes across like an idiot, and I can't think of a single thing off the top of my head that Bush did where I said, "Good Job, Dubya."

I blame myself. I REALLY didnt wanna start anything with my comments on Bush's speaking skills (I even SWORE, remember?). I was just really taken back listening to Clinton last night and I wanted to draw a comparison, thats all.

Bizzle Izzle, no one (no one here anyway) is drawing any parallels between Bush's not-too-convincing-or-reassuring speaking skills (My Own Damn Opinion) and his intelligence or his ability to lead a nation.
