| #1 Posted on 9.9.02 1145.01 | Well, here we come up to the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. And now the question - What will you be doing this Wednesday?
my answer - staying away from my TV and Radio. Unless theres a good baseball game on or I want to watch some cartoons. Maybe I'll go play Frisbee. You get the idea.

I'm taking the day off. Many of my coworkers are as well. We don't think it to be approporiate or functional to work this year. | evilwaldo

| #7 Posted on 9.9.02 1512.16 | I work in a Special Ed High School and students have been asking about what we were/are planning. Our art therapists have designed a motif of the towers with folded index cards that make it look like they are draped in a flag. Students and staff (if they want) will be able to write something on one card each and palce it back on the motif. I'll try to take pics if anyone wants to see how it turns out.

Not appropriate or functional to work this year. At the DOD? That's probably what got us in trouble in the first place!
Just joking up there, but on a serious note, I strongly disagree with the idea that we shouldn't work on this date. I think that's lame, and just can't help but think it may be just an excuse to get a day off of work. I mean, people have died on every day of the year, right? | OlFuzzyBastard

| #9 Posted on 9.9.02 1944.11 | I have class all day, and will be fortunate enough to be away from the television. I know the networks mean well, but they crossed the line into exploitation long ago, and I shudder to think what they have planned to fill the bulk of Wednesday's programming. Memorial services in NYC, Washington and Shanksville (which I would watch if I was home) will only go on so long. Are they planning on giving us eight hours of the towers falling, because I really don't ever want to see that again.
I'm going to wear black, I'm going to listen to Springsteen, I'm going to make damn sure we observe the moment of silence (which I think should last for the twenty minutes or so between the time the first plane hit until the second plane hit, although I don't think most people would go for that.), and I have some stuff I'm going to post on my website. But I'm going to reflect on it myself.
EDIT: Although, I consider tomorrow to be the real one-year anniversary, just because I relate more to days of the week than the actual date. And if there's a day I'm worried about another attack, it's tomorrow...

we did record business for a tuesday night at my video store, and we're bracing for more business wednesday night.
for as many people who will do some thing for the anniversary, there are just as many who just want a good safe movie to forget what happened.
Last year we had record rentals for Comedy, Drama, and porn. Many people stayed away from our adventure section, but any movie that had an exploding building, or disaster {ID4, Die hard movies, Nostradamus...) were in heavy demand. Faces of death too, but i'm not going to comment on their viewing habits...i think they were more ashamed than the old men trying to have me ring them their pron, and not my little elf of a co-worker who looks like Wynona from Bettlejuice.
All 3 versions of our nostradamus movies were in heavy demand until march...

My office will be having a minute of silence at 8:46am Wednesday(only noteworthy because we are in Canada). Then it's business as usual. I'm already over-tired of the coverage on TV and in the local newspaper. Although I did watch some of the 60 Minutes episode this past Sunday and it was heart-wrenching. | haz

I might watch some coverage on Wednesday night. I have been trying to avoid it up to now...

| #16 Posted on 10.9.02 1008.45 | I actually got a hair cut yesterday. Since I don't start my new job until next week, I've got the day off. And since we don't have cable, and reception in New York sucks now (there's another reminder of 9-11), I'm not going to watch TV. I probably just hand out. If I'm feeling somewhat emotional or whatever, or just want to be with other people I'll probably head over to the Brooklyn Bridge promenade, where I'm sure they'll be a lot of other folks. You won't drag me into Manhattan with wild horses. Logical? Maybe not. But no way.

I'd like to go to work, but working in one of the more well known buildings in Canada's capital has me a bit worried, given that there has been stuff that happened in the past (a sports anchor was shot and killed a couple of years ago). The chance sare I'll probably go to work and edit stuff as per usual.

| #20 Posted on 10.9.02 1756.35 | Well, we are up to orange, the highest danger ranking since 9/11. I only have one class tomorrow and no practice, plus a huge pile of homework to do... so I will probably hide in my dorm or the library, get caught up, and pray there's no attacks.... espically since I moved from Suburbia to the middle of Philly.... I have lived here 2 weeks as of 9/11 and don't want to have to experience a city under siege... or want anyone else too. And DrOp's pictures sound like they could be awesome.
