As soon as I started reading that article, Joey Ramone's cover of "What A Wonderful World" started playing on my IPod. How fitting.

Ah yes, nudity means a whole lot when protesting a war.

Nothing like people who make ideological stances based on party affiliations, instead of the facts at hand.

Yup, gotta love those wacky leftists...

I especially love the side-story about socks.

So, lemme get this straight: these people decided being naked was a good thing...why? Does their cause need the media attention so badly that they have to turn their political message into something that the crew of "Jackass" would have done? Are we supposed to take them seriously because of this stunt? Why do I even bother asking?

“I was thinking about all the people who are going to be in war in hellish situations and I thought I could take a little snow.”

Excuse me, but HOW the HELL does playing around, naked, in snow equate to a wartime experience?

I'm not sure George could have located Iraq on a map before he became president, but we don't say HE doesn't know what he's talking about. Well I do, but that gets me in trouble these days ;)

I can't really tell what they are spelling out. It looks like bUSH. I wonder if all those girls are truly anti- bUSH.

The sad thing is this: People like that are such a small, small part of the anti-war movement, yet they are the ones the media and people pay attention to.

The huge anti-war protests in DC were an extremely broad coaltion of churches, labor leaders, environmental groups, traditional anti-war groups, etc. Yet the dirty, long-haired hippies, naked chicks and drummers get focused on, thus marginalizing the entire movement

The media isn't liberally biased. It's a lazy, corporate machine looking for what sells the most for the least amount of work. And unfortunately people are so willing to buy into it.

A million billion dollars. You can pay me in installments...or just keep remembering to put two linefeeds between your paragraphs.

And calling them "girls?" The AP piece (did you read it?) said they ranged from age 20 to 50. Maybe you could be a little less sexist?

I'll work on giving your two-lines paragraph breaks (because I am an accomodationg guy), but calling them "girls" is not at all sexist, just as calling a group of men "guys" is equally not sexist. That is just plain ridiculous. Words mean different things for different situations. If you can't see that, I pity you. Guys and Girls mean exactly the same thing. They are just different words because the masculine and feminine forms gramatically are different. If you think that is bad, you should take a look at French sometime. You would have a sexist field-day.

People who say that are just looking for something to bitch about. And I still seriously doubt they had any inlking what the hell they were talking about. And the very fact that they spelled out "NO bUSH" instead of "NO WAR" immediatly makes them suspect.

No, the anti-war protests in DC are run by an outfit called "International ANSWER" which is paid for by the Workers World Party, which believes in the following, straight from their website

We're independent Marxists who respect the struggles for self-determination and progress of oppressed nations. We try to understand their problems in a world dominated by Western imperialism. We don't jump on the bandwagon when Third World leaders are demonized. Our goal is solidarity of all the workers and oppressed against this criminal imperialist system.

I wouldn't exactly take pride in that over naked morons in the snow...

I answered the bit about ANSWER in the thread about Bill O'Reilly. The protests are much more than them.

If you believe that I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn. That's why the speakers during these things tend to be such paragons of virtue as Jesse Jackson and Louis Farrakhan and Monica Moorehead, etc.

And the AFL/CIO and religious groups. Please read my post in the O'Reilly thread and actually take a look at who is involved in the anti-war movement. This current movement is impressive for how wide on the political spectrum it falls.

When you have the American Council of Churches, NOW and the AFL/CIO involved, I believe that counts for more than some bored teachers and communists. So please, even if you disagree with the message, give some fucking credit to who is giving the message. Someday, I hope we can move past the commy pinko faggot names my dad so used to love to use.

With all due respect, you just named three liberal groups as evidence that these protestors fall all over the political spectrum.

I don't mind that they're liberal. What I do mind is your trying to pass this off as an argument. I don't care if the Pope and Osama bin Laden both come together and decry war; I'll need a logical argument, and I have yet to see one from the current anti-war protests.

No they don't. "Boys" and "Girls" do. And you probably wouldn't have referred to a group of men as boys.
