"Ken Watanabe (The Last Samurai) is set to play Ra's Al Ghul, the lead villain in Batman: Intimidation. The flick begins production next month.
Christian Bale stars as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Katie Holmes will play Wayne's girlfriend; Michael Caine will play Alfred the Butler; Liam Neeson will play a mentor to Wayne and a friend of Wayne's father; Cilian Murphy will play a villain, possible Scarecrow; Morgan Freeman will play an employee of Wayne Enterprises."

AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME. Watanabe was the SOUL of The Last Samurai, and whilst I'm surprised he's getting the gig over the more established names I couldn't be happier.
"You're A Big Hunk Of Hero Sandwich, And You Wanna Save The Girl!"
Is it possible they picked an actor not as well known who could do the part, just because of what happened in the 1989 movie, where Nicholson just absolutely too the whole movie and ran away with it so much so that he had to be revealed as the murderer of Batman's parents just to make sure he was the bad guy at the end?
Granted, the heel in the Batman comics is more fun that Batman; especially vile, pissed off, Frank Miller-coated Batman. But that was a bit much.
Originally posted by DarkRenegadeAWESOME indeed. With Watanabe added to the cast now, the cast just looks great for this movie. I'll be looking forward for the new Batman flick.
And hey, it sure as hell beats Edge playing Egghead. :)
Phillip Seymour Hoffman, OTOH, would have made for an AWESOME Egghead. :)
So, here's the current cast: Christian Bale [Bruce Wayne/Batman], Liam Neeson [Ducard], Ken Watanabe [Ra's Al Ghul], Katie Holmes [Rachel], Sir Michael Caine [Alfred], Dennis Quaid [Jim Gordon], Morgan Freeman [Lucius Fox]...

Which I never understood. Isn't Ra's Al Ghul Arabian?
Because most of the world speaks English with a British accent. It's the world standard for the language. We used to have some Russian students at school, and they all spoke with a Brittish accent as well. I believe North America and Australia are the only other areas that have distinct English accents.

No one can outdo Warner as Ra's Al Ghul's vocal actor. This is why I'm hoping he returns for Justice League Season 3.
But for a LIVE ACTION Ra's, I don't mind Watanabe. He blends in perfectly with this cast. This new Batman's looking REALLY good.
Edge: So Triple H wants me to come to Raw and fight him for the big gold belt. I've TOTALLY passed you on the card. Jericho: Yeah, but while Triple H is burying you, I get to make out with Trish in front of millions. You tell ME who the winner is here, junior!
I'm just wondering why go get Michael Caine for such a (I suppose) minor role of Alfred. The same dude was doing Alfred just fine in all of the previous movies (and the On-Star commercial, if I'm not mistaken). I haven't seen the script (avoided it, really) but is Alfred a bigger part than in the past?

The same can be said about Freeman and Neeson...it looks like a case of too many mentors. At least Alfred and Lucius Fox are characters in the comics...Neeson is a generic 'friend of Bruce's father?' Unless this friend turns out to be

, this isn't much of a role. Perhaps the roles themselves haven't been finalized yet, and Neeson might end up as Commissioner Gordon or (even better) Harvey Dent. Or Chief O'Hara, from the old TV series. I had thought Neeson was going to be playing Ra's, but damn, Watanabe is another great choice. This movie is going to kick ass.
Wait…if it’s MLK Jr. Day AND Pat Patterson’s Birthday…who gets the token win here?-- Matt "Excalibur05" Hocking on a match between Mark Henry and Rico
MH: What’s a clever way to say that I have a penis? CJ: Uh…Mark, nobody’s going to buy that shirt. MH: How about if I say that I’ve got…a…uh…? CJ: Coming up with T-Shirt ideas is hard Mark, why not leave it to the WWE marketing department. MH: I know! I’ve got it! CJ: Got what? MH: Stank! That’s Mah Stank! I’m gonna make a fortune!! CJ: “That’s Mah Stank”? MH: On the front it’ll say “Can You Smell It?” and on the back it’ll say “That’s Mah Stank”. Everybody’ll buy it because they’ll think it’s a Rock shirt. CJ: You know…you might be on to something there, sad to say. MH: I can’t wait to show mah stank to Trish.
You know, I have a feeling that Spanky didn’t quit, he was fired. Why? So they could repackage Mark Henry as “Stanky.” Think about THAT! --Matt "Excalibur05" Hocking, 1/19/04 Raw Satire
