There's a ton of threads about Steph, including mine, that slam everything she does. Hey, I won't go into that whole "How do you know if you're not in the back" argument. So instead, I'll pose this question. She's been an on camera personality for almost three years. In that time, even she had some okay moments which made us bear her for a while. Here's my example. The first couple of months of the McMahon-Helmsley era, she spoke at a pretty normal voice even on the mic. I actually have a Smackdown from March 2000, and her tone was much lower on a promo than recently. I can also remember RAW from 2/12/01, when I was seriously hating that Trish angle, I was surprised to learn that she didn't acknowledge it at all that night, she just concentrated on supporting her husband and keeping him from hitting Austin. Hell, the night HHH was injured, we didn't see her at all until that last match. Are there any times that you can remember Steph being okay to put up with? I dare you to come up with one.

"I'm a woman. I know how women are." Stephanie McMahon
When she won the women's title didn't she act all surprised, like she didn't deserve it, almost like a face would? I didn't watch it but the pictures I've seen of it give me that impression.
I loved Stephy Bear before the boob job. I think that at the height of the Triple H/Kurt Angle love triangle, everything she did with Angle was fantastic.
I think you can point to that angle as the beginning of WWE's current problems. When they didn't pull the trigger on the completion of that angle, it seems like every major storyline arc since then has had the similar feeling of being cut short, anticlimactic, or aborted altogether.
Wow, I'm totally going on tangents in my posts.
Oh....'Wind Beneath My Ring' was great because her toxic voice fit in with the entire atmosphere of that sketch, so it wasn't horrific in context.
Steph was cool before she took control of writing duties. Steph's writing has included destroying a good car, Lucy the dog and Shawn Michaels in the NWO. There are alo plenty more pointless storylines.
As For Steph's looks, I liked her back when her hair looked straight and normal. I guess it was back in the Test days.
The reason we hate Stephanie McMahon as head writer is because she hasn't contributed anything worthwhile to the product and only has that job because of who her father is. I believe I have heard something about Big Steph being a smoker as well.
Quote of the week!
6/17/02 RAW HBK doing color:"That grown man is wearing makeup!"
Hyatte had some "inside info" in the MidNews from two weeks ago, I think, that says Stephanie smokes. I can certainly see it. She seems like the type (at least her character does) that would suck on the cancer stick.
I was absolutely in love with face Stephanie, and she was still the best looking woman on the roster until the boob job. Hell, she's still probably my first choice. (Although Stacy is the first diva who seems legitimately attractive, and there's something about Lita...)

That has to be the most far-reaching overgeneralization I have EVER seen on an internet message board. Can you define for me "the type of person" that would suck on the cancer stick?
Steph's early heel stuff was absolutely wonderful. Maybe not because of any inherent talent of hers, but she at least managed to not flub it up. By simply hanging out and playing it relatively straight, she managed to convey a fairly complex (for wrestling) character: A sheltered 'good girl' who was smart enough to get into a mercenary marriage with HHH, but still got a kick out of hanging out with Dx and the power rush of co-running the WWF. And then by simply taking her basic "face" look and accentuating it with little things like leather pants, she visually captured the character perfectly as well. Damn hot too.
I can actually pinpoint where it all went wrong: the day Vince came back, she simultaneously transformed herself into a screechy one-dimensional spoiled rich girl and took her look and performance so far over the top it became ridiculous and grating (and ridiculously grating).
She did have one rather impressive match with Trish in their series as well, if I remember correctly.

I hate Stephanie now.. In the beginning she was just kind of there, but over time she just became so obnoxious and forced onto my tv screen i now have a policy of changing the channel whenever she appears on my screen.
That having been said, there was one time when she didn't annoy me. It was a match with Trish Stratus, I believe at a PPV, where the overall sentiment was 'that match was far better than it should have been'. Steph took some sweet bumps and the two really pulled out a very good match.
But aside from that, I hate Steph.
And my belief is that the WWF started going downhill when Rikishi was revealed as the driver who hit austin.
For the record, I was simply indicating when Steph's character went wrong, and not the WWF in general. The latter's much harder to do. Yours is as good a point as any, considering that was pretty much the first large, unambiguous tactical error the WWF made post Russo, and things got a little awkward after that as they had to compensate for the aborted storyline.
On the one hand, I personally think January and February 2000 were the two absolute peak months for the WWF on all counts, so you could theoretically claim based on that that Vince's return heralded the beginning of the end. But it was a rather slow decline for a still high quality product all the way through X7. It wasn't until Austin turned heel that things really started sucking royally.
And, yes, Steph is gods awful now. No argument there.

I think Stephanie could really be good for the WWE if her character was used the right way. Her spoiled bitch character was a good one and she played it well. I agree with the person who said her early heel character was great and very interesting.

Oh and what you said wasn't far reaching? What I said had to be the worst right? Let me guess Dirk, you smoke, right? Did I offend you? Do you think I'm attacking you? Cause I'm not. Stephanie seems (to me and remember kiddies, this is MY opinion) like the kind of working girl, uptown chick who would smoke. It just so happens that there are women I know who remind me of Stephanie who smoke. For the love of God Dirk be resonable. I'm stating an opinion and I would hope you wouldn't be so insecure that you would be offended at an opinion.

Okay, now I've seen this in a couple of places now on the net, so I have to ask...who the hell started calling her Big Steph? I haven't yet decided whether it amuses the hell out of me or just makes me say "bleh", but either way suckas gots to know on this one.
And as for the other bit, she always strikes me on tv as one of those women who smoke when they go out to bars or nightclubs so that they can see how many men will try to slip in to give them a light.
Anyone remember the joy of seeing him bash the Undertaker's motorcycle with his sledgemhammer and doing no damage and being all like, "Mjolnir will not break thine cycle? I say thee NAY!" and dumping it off the stage. - Enojado Viento says the funniest thing I've ever read on Wienerville.
