As a Public Service Announcement, the final chapter of the Ward/Gatti Trilogy will be this Saturday Night on HBO. If you're not a boxing fan, consider this the equivalent of Foley and Funk beating the hell out of each other in the mid 90's because it was just a fun thing to do. It'll be 10 rounds of 2 guys beating the hell out of each other for our amusement. And, it won't have any Mike Tyson garbage, or the continual clutching and grabbing that is seen in the heavyweight division.
Now, if HBO was really smart, they would lead into the third fight by rebroadcasting episodes I and II in the time slot prior to the fight.

I consider the switch from Pathetic to Loser to be a promotion.

Redsox is most totally correct on that idea about the rebroadcast. I am hyped enough for the fight, but the thought of watching the 2 prior fights leading into this one would just get me ramped up for truly violent bliss.

I have a bad feeling though that this may finally be the fight where Micky just can't handle anymore. Unless Gatti goes stupid and stops listening to McGirt I think this could get ugly. Regardless this will be a hell of a fight simply because Micky Ward has more heart than anyone in sports today, and damn near ever.

Ward won the first, and Gatti won the second, correct?

Over 1300 posts and still never a Wiener of the Day!

In the issues of December 16th, 2000 to November 10th, 2001, we may have given the impression that George W. Bush had been legally and duly elected president of the United States. We now understand that this may have been incorrect, and that the election result is still too close to call. The Economist apologizes for any inconvenience.

Yup, Ward won a close first one and Gatti outscored Ward pretty easily in a hardfought rematch.

Gatti gets the win in the third too...McGirt is gold.

I dunno about that, simply because Micky says this is his last fight. He also said on ESPN.com that he basically had no strategy for the 2nd fight, as he thought it would be just like the 1st one.

Personally, I could care less if they replay the first two fights. I would rather they just replay Round 9 from the first fight. That first one was so good I had to watch it on HBO2 the next morning as well.

Another freaking amazing fight tonight. Gatti breaks his right hand and tells Buddy McGirt that he must keep fighting regardless. Ward scores the freak knockdown from hell in the 6th off the top of Gatti's head. The 7th round looks like round 9 from the first fight. Ward may have broken HIS hand during the fight. Gatti fights basically one handed and keeps landing insane power shots on Ward. Gatti wins a well deserved decision, Ward goes into retirement, and we boxing fans can rejoice having seen the greatest trilogy in boxing history (yes, a hair ahead of Ali-Frazier).

Indeed. A great night of boxing.

First, buh-bye Michael Grant. I love watchiung Teddy Atlas, but you can't make chicken salad out of Grant. It *was* funny listening to the announce team basically piss all over Grant when they used to think he was the greatest thing ever.

Second, Lennox announces that he still wants to fight and he may fight Klitschko, then Emanuel Steward basically begs for it to be VK that gets the June 21 fight. Guess I know where I'll be June 21 then.

Finally, Gatti-Ward III. I had no idea Ward hurt *his* hand, but it explains for me his failure to really jump on Gatti after Round 6. Plus, Gatti was RIPPING Ward to the body, and he did an excellent job of protecting his own body from Ward's left hook. I think if I'm Kostya Tszyu I want Gatti to stay the hell away from me.

I was just in San Diego last week helping a friend set up her new computer. The first thing I did was install Mozilla, get her using that for browsing & mail, & hide all the linkages to IE & OutLook. We love Mozilla!
