I'm not sure what to make of this.

Though there are no major rule changes this season NBA referees have been ordered to make more foul calls that will allow for an increased offensive freedom for its players. This new move is an attempt to curb the NBA’s continuous scoring downturn.

Any contact from the midcourt to the free-throw line extended and areas along the baseline toward the basket will be called a foul. This includes forearms.

Which means every center with the possible exception of Yao and Shaq can expect to be in foul trouble by early in the 2nd quarter...

Do you ever get the feeling that the guys running the NBA don't watch the games either?

The view from over here:

There's no real difference between me and Joe Conservative as I see it. We both lie, cheat, and steal. It's just that sometimes, deep down, it bothers me.

I see the refs are now getting their ideas from police. "Revenue is down, we need more tickets!"

Surprised not to see a predictions thread for the season yet, but wanted to throw this up here anyway. Prediction for the Cleveland Cavaliers overall record this year: 55-29 with a 9-7 division record, and a 37-17 conference record.
