If you haven't yet taken a stroll over to the Columbia Tristar Home Entertainment poll (and God knows, why would you - unless you saw the link on thedigitalbits.com a week ago), they're requesting your preferences on which of 25 old television series you'd like to see on DVD. I'd really like to see more out of the 25 than the five choices they ask you for, but they probably wouldn't mind me voting more than once.
I only ask that you put "Benson" somewhere on your list if you find you have an empty box when you're done.

(You don't care, but I also voted for "Soap," "Newsradio," "T.J. Hooker" and "The Tick." OMG if I could get EVERY "T.J. Hooker" on DVD I would DIE. I already have every "Soap" on tape thanks to taping a Comedy Central marathon but I'd gladly junk them for a set of DVDs. Also, I voted for "The Tick" so the people who like "The Tick" would also vote for "Benson." I am nothing if not diplomatic.)

Are there actually people who want to see Designing Women or The Nanny??

Wow what a choice list. They are starting to get to the bottom of the barrel, aren't they.

for the record I chose Benson, Barney Miller, Soap, NewsRadio and Bewitched

You may be able to get every episode of Facts of Life on DVD but we can only get 30 Best of The Muppet Show? There is some wrong with this world we live in

I voted on this the other day. I tried voting for Newsradio five times, but they have a built in message stopping you from doing it. If it's at all possible to get a Newsradio season-by-season set, with commentary on all the episodes like with The Simpsons, it has to happen and everyone should buy it.

My next one was for Barney Miller, because it's really one of the best sitcoms ever made and had running character and plot continuity that makes it a natural candidate for collection by season. Plus, it has the best theme song ever (just edging out The Rockford Files). You know I'm right about this.

Soap was #3, because Soap's probably right up there in the to five or ten, too. Well, the Benson run - Saunders was a lousy Benson knock-off. I wasn't totally crazy about El Puerco and Joe Magntena at the end, either. But Benson, Chester, Bob, Burt and all the other stuff? If you've never seen Soap, you should.

The Tick got a vote, but not because of its own merits. I was disappointed by the live action show despite Patrick Warburton being the best possible Tick. I voted for it in hopes that it would somehow get the cartoon version on DVD, which I would buy in a heartbeat.

Benson got the last vote because Benson DuBois himself, on Soap or Benson, was the man. And the Governor and that no-good Clayton were great, too. I hated Krause though. Stop saying liebchen, damn it!

I'd consider recanting anything below Newsradio for a TJ Hooker set with Shatner & Zmed commentary.

I went with Soap (hell Chuck and Bob plus the Col. on DVD, gotta go with that), Benson (probably wouldn't get the last season, but up until then), TJ Hooker, Barney Miller (only song that tops Jive Soul Bro), and Different Strokes (ok, not a great show, but hell, the backstage shit alone causes it to deserve a DVD).

Oh man - thanks for the headups Chris

Newsradio is so the #1 thing on my list of stuff that needs to make DVD.

I also voted for Dilbert, Benson, The Tick since a bunch of my friends like it and I have no clue what the 5th was :-)

Oh - Whose The Boss. I have no idea why though.

Simply because you voted for the Tick, I will now go vote for Benson. SPOON!!!!!

EDIT: D'OH! I thought that they might be looking to release the animated series on DVD... Not that the live action show wasn't funny (the sequence with the Tick and the maid was one of the funniest ever), but I want to own stuff like Pig-leg and Little Wooden Boy and so on. Still, even if Die Fledermaus was better than Batmanuel, Batmaneul was still a fun character.

I also voted for Who's the Boss, not to own it, but simply because I think it would be hysterical to see Who's the Boss season 1 on DVD. 'Ey 'o, 'o 'ay...

Alright, so I like Benson.

I also selected:

Barney Miller
Soap
Newsradio
One Day at a Time (if only for the fashions and Schneider)

I had to go with, in order of preference:

1. Soap
2. Benson
3. Barney Miller
4. The Tick
5. Dilbert

The only ones I really want are Soap and Benson. The other ones I voted for only because they said I had to vote for five.

Done and done.

I know I voted before, but couldn't what after the top three I chose, so I voted again.

1 Newsradio (definitely)
2 Soap
3 Barney Miller
4 Fantasy Island (rather have the new version)
5 Benson

I'd also vote for Bewitched, but almost all of the principals are deceased and no commentary. I mean, can you imagine what a Paul Lynne commentary would be like?

Yes, yes, the more NewsRadio votes, the better. My all-time favorite sitcom.

If memory serves me correct, I voted:
NewsRadio
Benson
Soap
Tick
Dilbert
