It would appear that the Dutch (the Dutch!) have caught onto this baseball thing.
Actually, that is not entirely fair. There has been a professional league in Holland since the 1920s, there has been an influx of players from Aruba, and the Netherlands Antilles, they've won the European baseball championships 28 (!) times, and they won something called the Baseball World Cup in 2011, but those are largely amateur (or, at least, non-MLB tournaments).
Well, now they've arrived, because out of two pools of teams that included Japan, South Korea, Cuba and Taiwan, it is Japan and Holland that have made it to the final four of the WBC. The Dutch beat Cuba twice to get this far, and play Japan to determine seeding, but Honkbal is alive and kicking.

I think I've said this before, but I could listen to Gwynn talk about baseball all day long, Sutcliffe too. But, I'm a sucker for baseball and baseball stories.
