Shouldn't he be too busy, you know, WORKING ON NWATNA. This man is so freakin' pathetic. He's still obsessed with WWE. Heck, 3/4 of his booking and characters in NWATNA are based around stuff from WWE.

This has the same type of credibility the NY Times would have if they hired John Kerry to critiqe Bush every Tuesday; there is obviously a deal of disdain and a reason to bring the subject down on the part of the writer, but also much for the writer.

But..

First of all, isn’t it copyright infringement to rip off “Evolution” from TNA? I could have swore that I said “Evolution is the Solution” on a pay-per-view only days before they came up with the familiarly close; “Evolution”. But never mind that—I don’t collect residuals for many of the things I contributed.

Who did Scott Steiner piss off to only get 5 seconds on the show and as a guest referee for a Mae Young match no less? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I DON’T CARE HOW BAD YOU SAY HIS WORK IS—IT’S SCOTT STEINER!!!

Right....

"Certainly one of the chief guarantees of freedom under any government, no matter how popular and respected, is the right of citizens to keep and bear arms. This is not to say that firearms should not be very carefully used and that definite safety rules of precaution should not be taught and enforced. But the right of citizens to bear arms is just one more guarantee against arbitrary government, one more safeguard against a tyranny which now appears remote in America, but which historically has proved to be always possible."

Good lord the man writes like an epileptic eight year-old. Three or four exclamation points doesn't make you look KEWL, it makes you look retarded. Plus, 99% of the content was the most hypocritical BS I've evr read. Blasting the company that shitcanned his sorry ass for a)ripping people's material off, b)unoriginality and c)lack of believability is pretty hard to take coming from the guy who thought a Pinata On A Pole match was pure gold and who readily booked himself as a borderline-serious World Heavyweight Champion.

Sad and pathetic. And this is coming form somebody about as anti-smarkish as you can get.

Damn, that was too funny. Or should I say, "That was too funny!!!!!1!!!1!!!!!!1"

How could *anyone* take this seriously? Ok, so maybe he did have a few good points, but it's shit that people already knew. This whole thing just makes him look petty and pathetic. I mean, even Scott freakin' Keith liked last night's show.

I think the only people that he didn't criticize are people he is hoping that he will get to work with again. He's probably crossing his fingers hoping that Foley will read what he wrote about him, and realize how awful the WWE is and come to TNA.

He's really obsessed with the WWE writers having worked for Friends, I guess. Didn't Russo want to get into other types of television instead of wrestling a while back? Jealous maybe? He kept bringing it up, and it's not like Ross and Lawler are out there yelling "Hey! Our writers used to write for Friends!" Nobody cares, except for Russo, apparently.

And what's this B.S. about Evolution? So anytime Russo says any type of phrase WWE is never allowed to use any of the words from said phrase? Riiiight.

Especially since a WWE contracted worker had a group name of Evolution over years before TNA even existed (Nova & Frankie Kazarian)

Due to bitching by NWA/TNA Management, the column has been removed and Russo will no longer be writing for 1Bob.com due to "conflict of interest". This is from a posting on 1Bob.com this afternoon

    1Bob says:
Earlier today a column was posted on 1Wrestling.com that was written by Vince Russo. The column contained Russo's thoughts on last night's episode of RAW.

The response to the column was overwhelming, with reaction split almost down the middle. Some readers loved the column and looked forward to more, and some thought the column was a conflict of interest and that it was inappropriate for someone who is an on-air TNA talent to write a column criticizing their competition.

Upon further reflection, and at the request of TNA management, we have removed the column from 1Wrestling.com.

thanks for the heads-up magicdoc

well how about that...? i didn't think there was anything wrong with it, other than some typographical, grammatical, and spelling errors. i remember when vince would come out and rip nitro on the air. maybe TNA doesn't want to face the wrath of titan over this, but, cmon -- does anyone in WWE really care about vince russo's opinion?

I loved his opinion on La Resistance. Couldn't have put it better, why do we have to put up with these tired losers...if these chumps ever do get any heel heat its rather generic, apathetic, contrived heat. WOW USA CHANTS, THATS SO FUCKING ORIGINAL TALK ABOUT AN ORIGINAL FUCKING CONCEPT PUSH THESE GUYS TO THE FUCKING MOON THEY ARE BREAKOUT STARS I TELL YOU...

Boy did I go off on Vince Russo like tangent there, sorry about that. Seems likesome of the things the smarks actually don't hate the most are the things I do(and vice versa). Anyway back to topic, now I myself have neither been much of a Vinnie Ru supporter but shoot me, I actually enjoyed his column and thought he made some really good points. Could be mostly because I myself was pretty indifferent to last night's Raw, but I would have been kinda interested to hear some more of his stuff. But that's that.

X-pac happened. He's the one who took the voice box from Kane and told him he didn't need it anymore, which resulted in the "Suck It" heard 'round the world. I wouldn't be so nitpicky about this, but...didn't Russo WRITE that segment?

Too bad about that whole "conflict of interest" thing, because this would have been a neat little feature to see every week. Russo makes a good point. We critique wrestling all the time and we bitch and complain about things all the time. Let's give Russo a chance to get in on the fun, too.

And if there's anything I've learned, it's that Russo does make good points about the writing staff and their foibles. And it was pretty big of him to compliment Goldberg, even after the heat they've had in the past.

It happened on RAW August 9, 1999 ("well Kane's got two words for us - and WITHOUT the voicebox! Kane says "suuuuuckiiit" in his endearing, voiceboxless monotone.") and Russo jumped to WCW in early October 1999. That means it's been less than 4 years since he left WWE. Maybe he didn't watch the show his last year there... that would explain a lot.

...or the more logical assumption: Russo didn't write that article.
The "conflict of interest" with TNA was that Ryder was making shit up again and either Russo or other members off TNA brass took issue with it.

Could you imagine if that was actually the case? Next thing you'd know, Ryder would be written into the next week's TNA show (or perhaps a parody of Ryder that only dozens of fans would get). That would Russo could turn into an angle: Reality TV, babee!!

Good job FriedEgg in saving it.

Unfortunately it's hard to take seriously any critique of a product from a person who said he hasn't watched the show in 5 years (does anybody really believe that LoL).
