This is the only mainstream media thing I've seen about it, but ProFootballTalk has been buzzing about Vince Young's alleged score of six on the Wonderlic test all weekend. Six, for those unfamiliar with the Wonderlic, is a horrific score, particularly for a QB. Average QB score is closer to 20-25.

The ProFootballTalk site is available at http://www.profootballtalk.com/rumormill.htm

They're openly questioning whether this could be a coverup to save Young and the University of Texas some embarrassment.

A lot of players have scored low: Frank Gore had a 6 and JP Losman had a 14. If teams are focusing on a Wonderlic score and not on the evidence of how he can play at hand (see his college career and Rose Bowl game), they may miss a chance to draft a potential All Pro.

And by the way, I hate your use of 'special'. It is a little offensive.

Well, that's just drunk talk! Sweet, beautiful drunk talk....

The NFL has denied that he scored a 6. Rumors are that the guy who graded his made a mistake. He retook it and got a 16. Still below average (for all players, which is lower than the average for QBs), but not as bad.

And the Wonderlic gives coaches an idea of how quick a player can pick up the system. You can't win in the NFL on athleticism alone, especially at QB.

In the real world, WWE believes that no matter what our race, religious creed or ethnic background in America, we all share the common bond of being Americans. American-Arabs are a part of the fabric of America, and they should be embraced by all of us.

And if it was graded wrong, it would be really easy to prove that by SHOWING the wrong grading. By not coming clean with HOW it was graded wrong, one tends to think that the NFL is covering its a$$ and protecting its farm system.

NOTE - The above post is paraphrased from what is posted at ProFootballTalk.com, which is a completely fantastic site.

It's not like you have to be a rocket scientist to take this test. It's not that hard and it's not biased.

Here's a story on it and representative scores for the football players and chemists:

Here are fifteen sample questions, too. Not that hard at all:

From the NFL.com FAQ: OTHER TIE-BREAKING PROCEDURES 1. Only one club advances to the playoffs in any tie-breaking step. Remaining tied clubs revert to the first step of the applicable division or Wild-Card tie breakers.
