It was a interesting segment. ESPN did an excellent job on research. Bret Hart is clearly still bitter at Vince. We somewhat got to see them book WM25. Steph looked great as always and Vince not leaving the company anytime soon.

Good segment.

I really liked it. I learned more about him, and the segment was well produced. I also liked the peek at the creative meeting.

One thing - Bret Hart needs to stop whining. Seriously.

Actually, read his biography.

Its really not whining. I lean toward what Bret has when on record with...he was the only one being professional at the "Montreal Screw Job".

When Vince calls you on the phone and says, "Think with your head not with heart." And from what I can gather that is Bret in nut shell. He's always thought with his heart which I'm not, repeat not, putting him down for it. If you disagree with me, you sir, are worse than a jobber.

Of the whole two sentences that they showed of Bret speaking, what, exactly, was the whining part? "Grind you up and spit you out" is pretty much exactly what they did until Eddie died on their watch and they brought in wellness testing. And for all we know, he could have been speaking of the business in general at that time; ESPN's ADD editing makes that hard to ascertain.

I think there is a big difference between "ax to grind" Bret of post-Montreal, and post-stroke, detached, valid criticism Bret of today.

Any idea of there's going to be a Canadian airdate for this show, or will it be available through ESPN's website? It sounds like a pretty good show, and I'd hate to miss it due to geographical reasons.

Bret did the DVD, did the Hall of Fame -- in order to prove he's "over it" is he also supposed to make sure that the 15 seconds of soundbites that ESPN runs from an interview do nothing but extol the WWE Universe? Ridiculous.

I wish ESPN had been at all the WM production meetings so we could see the original plans looking nothing like the finished product and changing multiple times in between. The bizarro Mania card of HHH/Edge, Cena/Orton, Jeff/Christian, Big Show in Money in the Bank.

I never read Bret's biography and don't have any deep insight into what happened that night, but this is a very arrogant (and not to mention stupid) statement.

Nevermind :)

More thoughts after watching the segment again,

I was thinking the WWE production meetings were more of a roundtable deal, Turns out this use the Bingo hall format. Did you notice their reaction when Vince said ESPN cameras were in the room? Someone blurted out "What"? I had to chuckle. The writers are "Top Secret" people. LOL.

Who was the guy sitting behind Joey Styles that the camera focused on for a couple seconds after that remark?

It's a rip-off of (homage to?) Redeye's Greg Gutfield's catchphrase at the end of each show's Greg-A-Logue. Typically on the show the line is, "If you disagree with me, you sir, are worse than Hitler." It was not well executed, however.

Funny thing is that ESPN's video player is a 16:9 widescreen frame but the video itself is in the traditional 4:3 aspect ratio leading to painful, painful windowboxing which decreases the size of the already tiny video.

Here's a version on YT with fullscreen! and 720p (where available)!

Parts One and Two.

I've always pictured the creative sessions as being like the new pledges meeting in Animal House. When Christian's mug shot comes up on the projector, Vince, Hunter, Steph and Shane start screaming in horror and pelting it with crap. Poor old Flounder.

What a great documentary. The guys who produced it are the luckiest bastards in the world. I would KILL to be backstage at pretty much everything they showed.

I'm kinda disappointed that they cut down the Creative meeting short...though I understand why.
