Vince Carter wants to replace cousin Tracy McGrady as the leader and star of the Orlando Magic. It's not going to happen. Carter, from Daytona Beach Mainland High, is growing increasingly disgruntled in Toronto, where he has spent the first six years of his NBA career establishing himself as a star.
Although the two teams have had preliminary talks about Carter, the Magic do not have the interest it would take to make it happen. In any deal for Carter, the Raptors want another all-star, which with the Magic would be newly acquired point guard Steve Francis.
There just aren't many scenarios you could draw up where we'd be a better team in acquiring him," Magic General Manager John Weisbrod said, "not when you factor in whom we would have to trade. I can say in no uncertain terms, we would not trade Steve Francis for Vince Carter.
If Orlando does get Vince, is he eligible to take Grant Hill's spot on the 'play 5 games, sit for 2 years' roster? If Vince ever actually, what's the word, WON something in his career, maybe he would have credibility. However, he hasn't won, so he should shut up. At least Shaq had a few title rings before he shot his way out of L.A.
I don't think it's even the fact that Carter hasn't won anything that's killing people's interest, but rather the fact that he's displayed absolutely no heart, guts, desire, or whatever else you wanna call it over the past two or three years. I can deal with a guy getting hurt a lot if he's giving some indication that he actually wants to come back, and then plays like he's happy to be back when that time comes. Vince Carter fits neither bill. I wouldn't trade Steve Francis to get him. I'd be hesitant to trade Grant Hill to get him.

That's one thing I just don't understand. At NC he was always the blue collar guy, doing all the gritty stuff, which is what made his NBA career so unexpectedly spectacular, at least initially. Maybe he needs The Dean to coach the Raptors.

Not like the team hasn't learn to play without him for long stretches of time in the past.
I wonder what's more of a turnoff for potential traders, his injury plaguing, his lack of heart, or his annoying mom.
smark/net attack wienerville advisory holds at ORANGE alert - High (JBL is STILL WWE champion and now smarks arch enemy HHH is the World Champion. Major red threat, but the undercard seems okay. The alert holds... for now)- 9/19
His freshman year Jamison showed him up and became our break out star. Carter was viewed as being kinda lazy and definitely didnt play defense. He improved in those regards but I never remember him being the Shane Battier type
I LOVE WRESTLING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
One theory about NCAA eligibility rules is that the rules were put in place to keep costs of obtaining players low. I read this in a book on the cartel aspects of the NCAA in grad school, and they make a lot of sense.
